Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch its new midsize SUV in India on September 3, 2025. The new SUV is rumoured to be called the Escudo; however, Maruti Suzuki is yet to make an official announcement on the same. The new Maruti Escudo will come with 3 engine choices, including petrol, CNG and hybrid.
The new Maruti Suzuki Victoris (Escudo) will be exclusively sold through ARENA dealership network. It will be longer than the Grand Vitara; however, its market positioning will be between the Brezza and the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara is currently sold through NEXA dealership network, which has 600 outlets all around the country.
The ARENA network with over 3,000 dealerships across India will help Maruti Suzuki Escudo to reach wider audience. Moreover, the new midsize SUV will come with several high-end features along with a fuel efficient hybrid powertrain. The SUV will be based on the Suzuki’s Global-C architecture that also underpins the Grand Vitara and Brezza. Not just the platform, the new Escudo will share the 1116bhp, 1.5L TNGA petrol-electric hybrid engine.
The Grand Vitara hybrid is claimed to offer an ARAI certified mileage of around 27.97kmpl, and the same is expected with the upcoming Escudo hybrid. The new midsize SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Renault Duster and Nissan C-segment SUV. All these models will also receive hybrid engine options. Moreover, the Honda Elevate mid-size SUV will also receive a 1.5L hybrid engine that powers the City e:HEV.
The new Maruti Victoris (Escudo) will also get the 103bhp, 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. Interestingly, the automatic version will also come with an AWD drivetrain.
The Escudo is reportedly to be the first Maruti Suzuki model to get an underbody CNG tank. This technology will allow MSIL engineers to free up more space in the boot and in the second-row. The SUV will get an 88bhp CNG option.
The new Escudo is likely to be the first Maruti Suzuki model to get a LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. It will add driver assistance features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high beam and others. The SUV is also expected to receive powered tailgate and Dolby ATMOS audio technology for an immersive sound experience. Other features could include panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, a larger touchscreen infotainment unit, digital driver’s display, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat and others.
