Renault Bridger

Renault will introduce an all-new sub-4-meter SUV based on the Bridger concept that debuted earlier this year. This concept previews a rugged compact SUV, which will slot right between the Kiger and the Duster in Renault India's line-up. In fact, the production-ready version is expected to retain the Bridger nameplate. It will be positioned as a rugged, lifestyle compact SUV, featuring a distinctive design language.

Renault Bridger Launch Date

Renault has officially announced that the Brigder will enter production in 2027. It will first launch in India, most probably around 2027 Diwali season, followed by exports to other developing nations such as the Middle East and Africa. 

Renault Bridger Price Expectations

Renault will be aiming to price the Bridger compact SUV aggressively; however, it will target a different set of buyers compared to the Renault Kiger. We expect the Renault Bridger price in India to start at ₹7.00 Lakhs* for the base variant, and ₹12.00 Lakhs* for the top-end fully-loaded trim. 

Key Features of the Bridger

The Renault Bridger is designed and developed in India for domestic as well as export markets. It will be based on the modified version of the brand's R-GMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) architecture, which also underpins the new Renault Duster. The production version Bridger design will remain true to its original concept, featuring a boxy stance, flatter roof and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

The SUV will have large glass areas for airy cabin feel. Key design highlights likely to include LED headlamps with a layered LED pattern, a large gloss black panel at the front housing the illuminated RENAULT wordmark, pronounced bumper with a large lower air intake, a sculpted bonnet, prominent wheel arches with black plastic cladding and roof rails.

Renault claims that the Bridger compact SUV offers best-in-class cabin space with generous headroom and kneeroom. It also offers a boot space of 400-litres, making it one of the most spacious offerings in its segment.

The cabin layout is expected to share design elements and features with the Duster SUV. It is likely to get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a 10-inch digital driver's display. Key features likely to include a wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, powered and ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, and others.

For safety and security, the new Renault Bridger SUV is expected to be equipped with multiple airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill hold assist, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, and ADAS.

Engine Specifications

The Renault Bridger compact SUV will mark the debut of brand's new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready. The company has officially announced that the SUV will get a hybrid powertrain, and an electric version might join the lineup at a later stage.

The Bridger hybrid is expected to use a 1.2L 3-cylinder petrol engine running on the Miller Cycle. The company will be targeting a higher fuel efficiency figure of the internal combustion engine, while the performance will be handled by the electric motor. 

The ICE version will get a new 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder MPFi turbo petrol engine, which is likely to be based on the 1.3-litre TGDi unit that powers the Duster. The new engine is expected to deliver around 118 bhp. Renault will also offer a CNG variant of the Bridger petrol. A naturally-aspirated version of the engine could also be on offer with the base variants.

Competition

Within Renault’s product lineup, it will sit above the Kiger and is expected to be positioned against the upcoming Mahindra Vision S and Kia Syros. It will also challenge the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon and others in the sub-4 meter SUV category.
