Honda to launch 0 Alpha Electric SUV in early 2027 Renault Bridger arriving in first half of 2027
Two mass-market automakers, Honda and Renault, are lining up major launches tailored specifically for the Indian market. While Honda will introduce the production 0 Alpha EV as its first electric SUV in India, Renault will introduce an all-new lifestyle SUV under 4 meters, called the Renault Bridger. Both SUVs will adopt India-centric manufacturing, distinctive design language, and multi-powertrain platforms.
1. Honda 0 Alpha EV
Previewed at the Japan Mobility Show, the 0 Alpha will be Honda’s first electric offering in the Indian market. The SUV will be locally developed at Honda’s Tapukara plant in Rajasthan for domestic and international markets.
Design Language: Based on Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” design philosophy, the Honda 0 Alpha Electric SUV adopts a futuristic SUV silhouette. It features an upside-down U-shaped front light bar, an illuminated Honda logo, smooth surfaces on the side profile, and massive C-pillars with a tapering window line. The SUV has flared wheel arches and are expected to feature 19-inch wheels.
Platform & Hardware: it will be introduced as a dedicated born-EV SUV. The Honda 0 ALPHA electric SUV features a front-wheel-drive single motor layout, featuring LFP battery options (around 60 kWh to 75 kWh). The SUV should return a realistic range of around 500km on a single charge. It will support ultra-fast DC charging capability with battery top up from 20 to 80% in around 25-30 mins.
Cabin and Tech Expectations: it will come with a spacious cabin equipped with modern tech and convenience features. The SUV is expected to get multi-screen digital cockpit, ventilated and power front seats, LEVEL 2 ADAS, panoramic glass roof, and others.
Expected Launch & Positioning: Scheduled to be launched in early 2027, the Honda 0 Alpha electric SUV is expected to be priced somewhere around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. It will directly rival the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE 6.
2. Renault Bridger
Renault will introduce an all-new rugged compact SUV, which will be placed between the Kiger and the new-gen Duster SUV. The Renault Bridger previews a boxy, off-road-inspired compact SUV, which will be designed and developed in India for domestic as well as international markets.
Boxy Profile: the new Bridger comes with classic off-roader styling, featuring an upright profile, squared-wheel arches, flat body surfaces, and a tailgate-mounted full-sized spare wheel.
Powertrains: the production-ready Renault Bridger will be based on a flexible RGMP platform. It will mark the debut of Renault’s 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The compact SUV will also receive a hybrid powertrain and a pure-electric version at a later date.
Practicality & Equipment: Renault has optimised the layout of the Bridger to offer 200mm of rear knee room and a generous 400-litre boot capacity. In terms of features, the Renault Bridger will come with a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround view camera, digital instrument console, a touchscreen infotainment unit with built-in google, LEVEL 2 ADAS, and others.
Expected Launch & Pricing: To be produced at Renault’s Chennai-based manufacturing plant, the Renault Bridger is expected to be launched in the country in 2027. We expect the new Bridger to carry a starting price of around Rs 8 lakh and extends up to Rs 14 lakh.
