Bridger & 7-Seat Bigster: Two Upcoming Renault SUVs

Renault 7-seat Bigster launch by March 2027. The Bridger is arriving by mid-2027.

After introducing the new-gen Duster, Renault is now preparing to launch two all-new SUVs in the Indian market by 2027. Before these two SUVs, Renault will start delivering the highly-anticipated Duster Hybrid. The French brand will introduce the production-version of the Bridger Concept and an all-new 7-seater SUV. Both SUVs will be based on the brand's new RGMP (Renault Global Modular Platform), which is basically the Indianised version of the CMF-B modular platform.

Renault Bridger - the compact lifestyle SUV

To be marketed as a lifestyle SUV, the Renault Bridger will sit right between the Kiger and the Duster in Renault India's line-up. It will be the brand's global SUV, and will be manufactured and exported to select international markets from Renault's Chennai based manufacturing facility. The new Renault Bridger will be a sub-4 meter SUV, featuring an upright, squared-off silhouette with flared wheel arches and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. Despite being a sub-4 meter SUV, Renault Bridger is claimed to be designed in a way to offer a class-leading 400-litre of boot along with generous rear knee room.

The big news is that the Renault Bridger will debut the brand's new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, which will be hybrid ready. In fact, Renault is preparing a strong hybrid version and an electric version of the Bridger. The SUV will rival the likes of the Mahindra Vision S, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue and others in the segment.

Renault will launch the 7-seater version of the Duster, likely to be the 7-seat Bigster before the end of this financial year, by March 2027. The SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari and others in the segment. The new SUV will measure around 4.6+ meters in length, and will have an extended wheelbase of 2.74 meters. It is expected to be offered with 6-and 7-seat layout with former having captain chairs in the second-row. The SUV will have dual displays, panoramic sunroof, LEVEL 2 ADAS, connected car tech, dual-zone climate control and others.

The SUV will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine producing 163 hp, paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It will also get a 1.8L strong hybrid engine, which will debut with the Duster this Diwali. This engine is expected to offer a fuel efficiency of around 20kmpl.
