Dacia Bigster showcased at Paris Motor Show 2026 India launch under Renault nameplate in 2027 Both hybrid and turbo petrol engines will be on offer
Renault India is expanding its SUV offensive with the Duster Hybrid, Bigster and the Renault Bridger compact SUV. Showcased under the Dacia nameplate at the Paris Motor Show, the production-spec 3-row midsize SUV will be launched in the Indian market in 2027 under the Renault nameplate.
Based on the localised RGMP (Renault Group Modular Platform), the Renault Bigster is engineered specifically to target 6- and 7-seater family buyers. It will direct rival the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV 7XO.
Measuring close to 4.6 meters in length, the Renault Bigster is essentially the a longer, more practical 3-row version of the Duster SUV. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2700mm, which allows Renault to integrated 6-seater (captain seats) and 7-seater layouts with bench seats.
The SUV retains Y-shaped LED lighting signatures, a prominent front skid plate, flat bonnet lines, squared-off wheel arches, and chunky roof rails. The SUV has a ground clearance of 210mm, which is more than sufficient to handle bad Indian roads.
Renault is adopting multi-powertrain strategy for its 3-row SUV, replacing diesel engine in favor of high-efficiency hybrid and powerful turbo petrol engines:
1.8L Strong Hybrid: the strong hybrid model will feature a 1.8L, four-cylinder petrol engine paired with two electric motors - a 20bhp motor working as a starter-generator and a 49bhp traction motor that drives the wheels. The system is further assisted by a 1.4 kWh battery pack. This setup offers a combined power and torque output of 160 hp and 172 Nm, respectively. The SUV comes with a multi-mode clutchless automatic gearbox.
1.3L HR13 Turbo Petrol Engine: this engine is capable of producing 160 bhp and a peak torque of 270 Nm, and is paired with either a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed DCT.
It features a 10.1-inch floating touchscreen infotainment screen paired with a 10.25-inch digital instrument console. Third-row occupants will have dedicated rear AC vents, individual USB-C charging ports, and recline-adjustable backrests. In terms of features, the SUV gets a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless smartphone charging, ventilated front seats, and electric drive-seat adjustment.
For safety and security, the new Renault Bigster will get standard 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESP), Hill Descent Control, 360-degree surround view camera and a LEVEL 2 ADAS suite.
Scheduled to be launched in early 2027, the upcoming Renault Bigster is estimated to be priced somewhere around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV will come as a strong hybrid alternative to the conventional diesel-powered 3-row SUVs.
