Renault Bigster 7-seater spied in Chennai Based on Renault Global Modular Platform Launch in Early 2027
Renault will launch the much-awaited new-gen Duster SUV in the country on March 17, 2026. The company has confirmed two more SUVs, including a 7-seater model and the Bridger sub-4 meter SUV for the Indian market. Renault will launch the 7-seater iteration of the Dacia Bigster, which is on sale in select international markets. This SUV has been caught testing in Chennai, revealing its proportions and road presence.

The spotted model is covered in thick cloth, revealing limited information. The overall front design seems inspired by the global-spec Bigster. It gets a large air dam, new front bumper that houses skid plate, and split headlamp setup with Y-shaped LED DRLs. The SUV gets squared-off wheel arches with thick body cladding, usable roof rails, conventional door handles, and C-pillar-mounted rear door handles.
The spotted model gets an integrated rear spoiler, massive lower bumper, and uniquely styled Y-shaped LED tail-lights. The SUV is expected to ride on 19-inch alloy wheels.
The new 7-seater SUV will be based on the brand’s new Renault Global Modular Platform (RGMP), which also underpins the new Renault Duster. This platform is designed to accommodate vehicles measuring up to 4.7 meters in length with a maximum wheelbase of 2.74 meters. The Dacia Bigster and Renault Boreal also ride on 2.74 meters long wheelbase and measures around 4.6 meters in length.
The SUV is expected to be offered in both seven-seat and six-seat layout with captain seats in the second-row. It will share most of the features with the new Renault Duster. The 7-seater SUV gets a 10-inch digital instrument console, and a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. In terms of features, the 3-row SUV will get LEVEL-2 ADAS, dual-zone climate control with rear AC vents, LEVEL-2 ADAS, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, connected car tech, powered tailgate and LED lighting tech.
The Renault Bigster 7-seater will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 163hp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The hybrid version will get a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp, hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively.
The new Renault Bigster 7-seater SUV is expected to be revealed towards the end of this year, while its launch could take place in early 2027. We expect the new model to cost somewhere around Rs 14 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and others.
