Renault 7-seater SUV launch in early 2027 To be based on the new Renault Global Modular Platform Both petrol and hybrid engines will be on offer
Renault is all set to launch the much-awaited new-gen Duster SUV in India on March 17, 2026. It will be the most important product for the French automaker; however, the company is also working on two more SUVs to further boost sales in the country. Renault will introduce a new sub-4 meter SUV based on the Bridger concept. Before this compact SUV, the company will launch a new 7-seater premium SUV in the country. The SUV will take on the likes of the Mahindra XUV 7XO and Tata Safari.
The 3-row premium SUV is expected to be revealed before the end of this year, while its sales are expected to launch in early 2027. It is most likely to be the 7-seater derivative of the Dacia Bigster or Renault Boreal on sale in international markets. The India-spec 7-seater SUV will be based on its new Renault Global Modular Platform (RGMP), which also underpins the new Renault Duster.
The new RGMP platform is designed to accommodate vehicles measuring up to 4.7 meters in length with a maximum wheelbase of 2.74 meters. In fact, the global-spec Renault Boreal and Bigster ride on 2.74 metres long wheelbase and measures around 4.6 metres in length. The new 3-row premium SUV will be offered in both seven-seat and six-seat layout with captain seats in the second-row.
The new model is expected to share most of its features with the new Renault Duster. It is likely to be packed with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless android auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10-inch digital driver’s display. In terms of features, the SUV will get LEVEL-2 ADAS, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation, connected car technology, Google integration, powered tailgate and LED lighting tech.
The new 3-row premium SUV will be powered by a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 163hp and 250Nm of torque. Transmission choices likely to include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic unit. The hybrid version will get a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp, hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively.
