Hyundai Creta has firmly established itself as the undisputed champion of the SUV market in India. First and foremost, its striking design and contemporary styling have resonated with Indian consumers, making it a fashionable choice among SUV enthusiasts. Its well-equipped interior offers an array of tech-savvy features and comforts, making it a favoured choice for many SUV fans. Additionally, competitive pricing and strong resale value have further contributed to Creta's enduring popularity, solidifying its position as a leader in India's highly competitive car market.

The Creta was first introduced in China as Hyundai ix25 in 2014. Later, the model was rolled out for production in India and went on sale in July 2015 as Creta. Since then, Creta has been consistently delivering impressive sales figures in the Indian market. By November 2015, the SUV marked 70,000 bookings in India while globally, it secured 15,770 units. With its dominant force in the compact SUV segment, the Creta sold up to 2 lakh units by August 2017. In fact, the SUV contained about 90 percent of Indian parts in 2017.
Hyundai unveiled the second-generation Creta model in February 2020 in India and officially launched in March 2020. With the updated design and features, the SUV continued to grow among Indian customers. By August 2020, the automaker reported a milestone of 5 lakh units sold for Creta. Compared to the first-generation model, the second-generation model showed significant growth of 30 percent for Creta.
In February 2023, Hyundai India announced that Creta recorded the highest-ever domestic sales. While the first-generation Creta marked 4,67,030 units from June 2015 to Feb 2020, the second-generation Creta secured 3,71,267 sales units from March 2020 to January 2023. The company has sold 8.3 lakh units of Creta since 2015.
According to the latest sales report, Hyundai secured 71,435 units sold during August 2023. These sales figures comprise both domestic sales, which stood at 53,830 units, and exports which gathered 17,605 units. Domestic sales marked a significant growth of 8.73% with 4,320 more units sold compared to August 2022. This reflects the brand’s ability to maintain and expand its market share.
