After the launch of the Hyundai Exter in 2023, the micro SUV segment became interesting as it was dominated by cars like the Tata Punch. Impressively, Hyundai received 50,000 bookings within a matter of days of the launch of the Exter.
Coupled with a strong build, imposing stance and muscular styling, the new Exter is a part of Hyundai's 'Parametric' design language. The SUV has given the Tata rival a tough fight at a very aggressive starting price of Rs. 6.13 lakh ex-showroom.
Hyundai Exter has a bit of a boxy design and a blend of boxy proportions with crisp lines that form a pretty attractive and rather specific micro-SUV. The front profile of the micro-SUV gets a wide piano black grille and a simulated silver skid plate.
Of course, the H-shaped LED DRLs, as separate as they are fall in line with BIOS-themed concept cars, giving a unique touch along with flared wheel arches, and diamond-cut alloy wheels; all-in-all, some of the best designs Hyundai has to offer in India.
The overall design of the Hyundai Exter feels fresh with the exterior bits that it carries. With its size proportions, it sits over the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS but falls short of the Venue SUV. This has also helped the Korean car manufacturer to widen its portfolio and introduce a new category to fill the gap that existed earlier.
This is because the Hyundai Exter aligns the provision of excellent features that make it outstanding in relation to an equally good value for money. From the option of a wireless charger to the paddle shifters in the AMT variant, everything is designed to directly meet the needs of new-age motorists. While AMT is expected with the Exter SUV, the addition of paddle shifters is definitely a sweet touch from the brand.
Additionally, the dual-lens dash camera and an electrically operated sunroof make driving a bit more luxurious. Security comes first with six airbags, three-point seat belts, Anti-lock Braking System with Electronic Brake-force Distribution and brake assist, hill start assist, and a tyre pressure monitoring system for unbounded safety.
While it borrows its platform from the Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS, the micro-SUV takes more than just its base and has a very strong, unique exterior design. Its boxy proportions, sharp angular lines, and prominent body cladding contribute to the rugged character of this vehicle.
In city driving or simply off-roading, the rugged demeanour further enhances the drive as it gives a heightened sense of confidence. There is side cladding in black colour on the sides that provide it with an SUV stance, increasing its off-roading appeal.
But again, for those who often travel through harsh terrains, the Exter rises to the occasion with the following physical attributes: It has a ground clearance of 185 mm and a wheelbase of 2,45 0mm, five millimetres more than the Tata Punch. This is coupled with roof rails and a striking D-pillar that amplifies the vehicle's utility and aesthetics, respectively.
