Blending a range of features ranging from comfort and safety, the Tata Punch is a great option for buyers who are willing to invest their money in the micro-SUV segment. Additionally, underneath the hood lies a spirited and fuel-efficient engine, making it an all-rounder offering great value for money.
And with the dual-cylinder CNG technology, space has also been utilised in a smart manner but that’s not all.
The Punch comes with an affordable price tag and is extremely high on safety as well. When it was launched in October 2021, it immediately reached the top of the SUV sales charts in India. It can be inferred that the car is more than ready to stand its ground as an SUV in the Indian market.

Before we get to the car’s safety in detail, it is important to note that to score high in the National Car Assessment Programme, car companies require complex technologies. Banking on the same, Tata Punch scored an outstanding five-star rating in adult protection and four stars in child safety.
Underpinned by the newly developed Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) structure, it comes with important safety features like dual front airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), cornering safety, child seat ISOFIX mounts, reverse parking camera and tyre repairing kit.

In addition to the safety tech on board, the Punch SUV is very practical due to the brand’s innovative approach in terms of twin-cylinder technology. With the twin-cylinder arrangement, space in the boot, which is otherwise non-existent in CNG cars, is 210 litres, displaying Tata’s commitment to innovation.
Departing from the commonly used mono cylinder, the dual-cylinder setup incorporates two carbon cylinders for CNG. Additionally, it can start in CNG mode because of the enhanced electronic control unit (ECU).
The CNG cylinder setup leaves the rear seat occupants uncomfortable and restricted, which is an issue in these cars. However, Tata has aced the CNG segment when it comes to innovation.

Sunroofs, despite Indian weather, are extremely loved and with the addition of one in the Punch, it has become the most affordable car on sale in the country, making it even more value for money. On top of that, it can be operated via voice commands.
Because of the sunroof, more light enters the cabin and an airy atmosphere is created in the micro-SUV. It also elevates the car’s overall feeling of connectedness with the outside world, highlighting driving passion.

The Tata Punch is equipped with a long list of features and the carmaker has left no stone unturned as far as features are connected. Talking about key features, the small SUV gets LED daytime running lamps, auto folding wing mirrors, rain sensing wipers and stylish diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, you are greeted with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, semi-digital instrument cluster and a TFT display combination and a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel.
There is also a height-adjustable driver’s seat, push button start, cooled glovebox and cruise control. You also get iRA car connected suite which has over 25 sophisticated features.

Under the hood is a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 86PS and 113 Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the engine can either be paired with a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT unit. Notably, the mill is punchy at low revs and the mid-range is good as well.
Depending on the transmission that you opt for, the homegrown brand has fine-tuned the vehicle. Also to be noticed is the ride and handling of the Tata Punch where it outshines being a micro-SUV, where offroading characteristics too are impressive adding to four-wheeler’s versatility.
