Tata Motors has now become the highest-selling car brand in India. The strong reason why Tata cars are more in demand than others is its new models, i.e., Nexon, Harrier, and Altroz. These models from Tata Motors are based on the new design language, inspired from Land Rover. Moreover, the brand is now providing best-in-class 5-Star Safety Rating and feature-loaded cars. In fact, the new Tata cars are equipped with refined engines and offer spacious cabins, leg-room, and improved ride quality. In December 2022, the Indian automaker registered 13.44 percent sales growth with 40,043 units of vehicles sold, up from 35,299 units Y-o-Y. Not to mention that Tata Motors is performing well in the electric car segment which will have a positive impact on its future sales.

As revealed in the December 2022 sales report, Tata Motors recorded 13.44 percent for Year-on-Year growth in total passenger vehicles sold in India. The manufacturer managed to sell a total of 40,043 cars in the Indian market and 364 units were exported as well. The total was 40, 407 unit sales. When compared to the last year’s sales figures, the company sold only 35,462 units during the same period.
The sales figure also includes 3,868 EVs that were retailed in the Indian car market and exported to other markets as well. Tata electric vehicles registered a Year-on-Year growth of 64.2 percent as compared to the 2,355 units in December 2021. The major reason behind this accelerated growth was Tiago .EV which launched in September 2022 as India’s most affordable EV.

Tata Motors launched two other electric models in the country, i.e., Tata Tigor EV and Tata Nexon EV Max. Among these two, Nexon EV became the highest-selling electric car in India. As of November 2022, the company sold 1,56,225 units of the Nexon. The company was able to achieve this figure due to the success of Nexon EV which has also become India’s best-selling SUV. However, the upcoming Mahindra XUV400 EV could become a direct rival to Nexon EV.
Apart from Tigor EV, Nexon EV, and Tiago EV, the brand also offers other products in its portfolio which include Punch, Tiago (ICE), Altroz, Nexon, Tigor (ICE), Safari, and Harrier. At present, the most affordable car from Tata Motors is the Tiago petrol whose price starts from Rs 5.45 lakh (ex-showroom).

Tata Motors is expected to feature its exciting lineup of cars at the Delhi Auto Expo 2023. The car brand is likely to showcase the Punch EV and Special Editions of the exciting Tata car models. Besides these, there will be a couple of concepts on exhibit which would include the Curvv EV Concept and Avinya EV Concept. One could also see the Altorz EV on display alongside the Tata Sierra Concept. Moreover, the delivery of the Tiago EV will start in January 2023.
