Maruti Suzuki WagonR is a tall-boy designed compact hatchback that offers the most headroom in its segment. On sale in India since 1999, the WagonR has spawned three generations and numerous facelifts during its lifecycle.

The car was last updated in 2019, when it was upgraded to the HEARTECT platform and received a minor facelift. This is one another model from Maruti Suzuki that constantly ranks in the ‘Top 10 Cars Sold’ every month.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR’s exterior design features the familiar tall boy look from the previous generation models. The overall design of the car is an evolution of previous models while making it more appropriate for current market requirements with new highlight lines. 

The windscreen of the new WagonR is nearly horizontal, and the bonnet gradually slopes down towards the Suzuki logo in the center of the grille. The car provides a large bumper and new headlight units which adds character to the vehicle. Towards the sides it offers new blacked out 14-inch alloy wheels and body coloured ORVMs on the top-end variants. 

As for the rear, the tailgate at the top is slim and while coming down widens towards the bottom. It offers vertical tail lamps with reflector inserts on either side and a body coloured bumper.

Interiors: The interiors of the 2023 Maruti Suzuki WagonR are more spacious than ever before. The car provides a mechanical dashboard similar to what we find on other models like the Alto K10 and the Celerio. The cabin is finished in a dual tone black and beige theme.

Features: The 2023 WagonR gets a 7-inch SmartPlay studio touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone navigation, four speakers, three-spoke steering wheel with audio controls and an analogue speedometer. The car provides a spacious boot size of 341 litres.

Safety: In terms of safety, the 2023 WagonR is built on the HEARTECT platform and gets 2 airbags, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Assist, and more basic equipment.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR: Price and Variants

Maruti WagonR's price in India starts from Rs 5.55 lakh and extends to Rs 7.31 lakh (ex-showroom). The petrol-powered models are available in LXI (1.0L), VXI (1.0L), ZXI (1.2L), ZXI+ (1.2L) variants with both manual and automatic transmissions alongside dual tone exterior paint option. The CNG powertrain is available only in the lower LXI and VXI trims.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR: Engine and Specification

Maruti Suzuki WagonR is powered by an updated 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engines. The units are offered with both petrol and CNG (1.0L only) fuel type. The engine produces up to 89 bhp and 113 Nm of torque in the petrol guise, while the figures drop to 55 bhp and 82.1 Nm for the CNG version. The model is offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox option.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR measures 3,655mm in length, 1,620mm in width and 1,675mm in height having a wheelbase of 2,435mm. The car gets a small 32-litre fuel tank and 14-inch alloy wheels.

The Maruti Suzuki WagonR mileage is set at 25.19 kmpl for the 1.0-litre engine and 24.43 kmpl for the 1.2-litre petrol power plant, while the CNG trim returns 34.05km/kg.
