Honda launched the Elevate SUV in the Indian market last year in September 2023. While in Japan, the brand introduced this Made-in-India SUV as a new-gen WR-V in March 2024. Surprisingly, the Elevate SUV won many hearts and was marked as a bestseller in Japan within one month of its launch.
The Japan-spec Elevate, named WR-V, has secured 13,000 bookings since it launched in March 2024. While in India, the Elevate SUV has registered 20,000 bookings within 100 days of its launch.
According to the analysis report, conducted by Honda, the primary audience who are buying WR-V in Japan are those who are upgrading from compact cars, light cars, and minivans. Plus, the brand noted that the Elevate SUV is preferred across a wide range of age groups.
Honda Elevate is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that can produce 120 bhp of power and 145 Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated with only CVT units in Japan while the India-spec model's engine is offered with both manual and CVT automatic gearboxes. With the manual gearbox, the SUV can deliver 15.31 kmpl of fuel efficiency while its CVT gearbox offers fuel efficiency of 16.92 kmpl.
The Japan-spec Elevate is available in three variants - X, Z, and Z+. If we categorize the booking numbers, most of the booking is secured by mid-variant Z at 55 percent. The base variant X secured 15 percent of bookings while the top-spec Z+ variant had 30 percent of bookings. In addition, the colour choices for the SUV preferred mostly in Japan include Platinum White Pearl, Crystal Black Pearl, and Meteoroid Gray Metallic.
With such an amazing response to Elevate in Japan, Honda is planning to introduce its Elevate SUV in other international markets as well.
