Maruti Suzuki is set to launch an all-new midsize SUV, internally codenamed Y17, on September 3, 2025. It was speculated to be called the Escudo; however, a new media report claims that the new midsize SUV is likely to be called the Maruti Victoris.
The new Victoris midsize SUV will be sold exclusively via Maruti’s ARENA showroom network. It will be the flagship ARENA SUV and will sit above the Brezza in its line-up. The new Maruti Victoris will go on sale in our market on September 3, 2025.
The new Maruti Suzuki Victoris will be based on the Suzuki’s Global C platform that underpins the Grand Vitara and Brezza. It will come with the same set of powertrain choices as the Grand Vitara, which includes a 1.5L NA petrol, a hybrid and a CNG.
The midsize SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 102bhp, and paired to either a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Previous reports suggest that the Victoris will get a 4WD drivetrain; however, new media report claims that it will be available with the AWD option.
In the CNG mode, the powertrain will offer an 88bhp. The big update is that the new model could be the first Maruti to feature an underbody CNG tank. This will help the company to create more space in the boot and in the second-row. The hybrid version will continue to feature the Toyota’s sourced 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol engine.
To be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara, the Maruti Victoris is reportedly to be fitted with several high-end features. It is reportedly to be the first Maruti Suzuki car to feature LEVEL 2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist and others.
The SUV is expected to be equipped with powered tailgate and Dolby Atmos immersive sound system. Other features could include a panoramic sunroof, twin digital screens for infotainment and driver’s display, automatic climate control, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats and others.
The new Maruti Victoris is likely to be positioned between the Brezza and Grand Vitara (Rs. 11.42 - 20.68 lakh). We expect the new Victoris to be priced between Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom. The new model will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in the category.
