It is no secret that Renault is developing an all-new 3-row SUV based on the Dacia Bigster concept for the global as well as Indian market. A new media report claims that the 3-row Duster will make its global debut in October 2024, while prices will be released in early 2025. The production-ready Dacia Bigster will be unveiled at the 2024 Paris Motor Show.
The new model will be introduced as a more affordable alternative to the Volkswagen Tiguan and Kia Sportage. Media reports claim that the new 7-seater Renault Duster will be priced at less than £20,000 (approx INR 22.02 lakh). It will be cheaper than the likes of the Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Karoq and Citroen C5 Aircross.
The third-generation Renault Duster styling is heavily influenced from the new Duster. A production version of the Dacia Bigster will also look similar to the new Duster. The design will remain true to its concept, as it retains the upright and rugged-looking front end. It features slim LED headlights and a chunky lower bumper.
The side profile looks similar to the concept, featuring heavy cladding and flared wheel arches. The rear features the Y-shaped tail lights, which are also available in the Duster SUV. The spy images suggest that the production model could be bigger in size compared to the original concept.
The new Dacia Bigster production model's cabin will be similar to the Duster SUV. It comes with more modern features and a modern-looking cabin compared to the previous Duster. The SUV will get a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless connectivity, automatic climate control, a flat-bottomed multi-functional steering wheel, and many more. The SUV will also receive Level 2 ADAS tech with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, lane assist, auto high beam and others.
The 7-seater Renault Duster is likely to share the engine options with the 5-seater model. The SUV is offered with a choice of either 1.0-litre or 1.2-litre petrol engines, both with a six-speed manual gearbox. The SUV also gets a 1.6-litre petrol hybrid with an automatic gearbox.
Renault has already announced the launch of the new Duster and a 7-seater SUV in our market sometime in 2025 and 2026. Both models will be based on the heavily localized MQB AO IN platform. Renault is not likely to introduce the hybrid engine options with these two models. Both are likely to get a 1.3L turbocharged petrol and a 1.5L NA petrol engine.
