A range of mid-sized Electric SUVs to launch in the Indian market Tata Curvv EV will be launched by October 2024 The electric versions of Creta and Elevate will also be on the list
The Indian automotive market is soon going to witness the arrival of many new electric vehicles. The SUVs are going to rule the EV category, as most of the renowned car brands will introduce new mid-sized electric SUVs in the country in the next 2 years. Tata Motors’s much-awaited Curvv SUV Coupe will be the first model in the mid-sized EV SUV category. Moreover, 5 more models will be launched in the same segment in the next couple of years. Let’s dive into this news to find out more about the upcoming new mid-sized electric SUVs to be launched in the country.

Tata Curvv will be one of the interesting car launches of the year. Likely to be launched by October 2024, the Coupe SUV will have a similar design to the Curvv EV concept that debuted in 2023. It will be offered with multiple powertrain choices including the electric one. It will be based on Tata's Acti.ev architecture and is expected to offer an impressive range of up to 500 km. As for the price, it could be priced around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).

Next-in-the-line is the electric version of the standard Creta that is expected to launch in January 2025. Production of the Creta EV will start in December 2024. Design-wise, it will feature some unique visuals with mild styling over the regular Creta. It will have a front-axle-mounted electric motor, which is likely to draw power from a 45kWh battery pack. This could be the same motor that is offered on the global-spec Kona EV, which is rated at 134bhp and 255Nm.

Maruti Suzuki will launch its electric SUV based on the eVX concept in the Indian market. Slated to launch in mid-2025, the electric mid-size SUV is likely to get a powerful 60 kWh battery pack that can deliver a maximum range of up to 550 km. Upon launch, it is set to challenge the upcoming Creta EV and Mahindra XUV e8. The SUV could also get a dual-motor AWD setup. Moreover, a new entry-level variant with a smaller battery pack could be on offer.

Toyota revealed its Urban SUV Concept in 2023. This concept is based on the same architecture as the Maruti eVX concept. Toyota will launch the production-ready model of the Urban SUV in India during the second half of 2025. It is expected that Toyota's upcoming SUV shares the interior layout, components and specifications as the Maruti eVX.

Mahindra is preparing to launch its new Born-electric SUV range in the Indian market. The XUV.e8 will be the first pure electric SUV from Mahindra based on the new INGLO skateboard architecture. Mahindra will also introduce the all-new BE.05 mid-sized electric SUV, which will use the same architecture. Likely to be launched by October 2025, the new model will have SUV-Coupe styling and will be positioned above the XUV400. Some of its unique features might include a twin-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated BE logo, strap-like door grab handle, tall gear lever, rotary knob to control infotainment, 10.25-inch dual screen setup for both infotainment and instrument cluster. It is likely to get a battery pack of around 60kWh to 80kWh with top variants expected to receive AWD setup.

The electric variant of the Elevate SUV will be launched by 2026. Codenamed DG9D, the EV will be manufactured at the Tapukara production facility located in Rajasthan. Honda will update the current Elevate platform for the EV. It is expected to get a battery pack of around 40-50 kWh with a front-axle mounted electric motor which can deliver a range of over 400 km on a single charge.
