The French automaker, Renault is all set to introduce the next-gen Duster in the Indian market. Slated to launch in 2025, the upcoming 5-seater SUV will share styling cues from the Dacia Bigster concept that debuted in 2021. For the European markets, the SUV is sold under the Dacia nameplate. However, in India and Brazil, it will be sold under the Renault nameplate.
The new-gen Duster will be built on the CMF-B modular platform by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance. This platform is capable enough to house different body styles and powertrain options including plug-in hybrid, strong hybrid, and petrol. Besides, this new platform will be localised heavily to keep the prices competitive in the market.
Design-wise, the SUV will have a signature Renault front grille, Y-shaped LED DRLs in the headlight, and circular fog lights setup. Other exterior highlights include a prominent skid plate, roof integrated spoiler, blacked-out body cladding, squared-off wheel arches, tapering rear quarter glass, and Y-shaped LED taillights.
Inside, the SUV is expected to provide a large freestanding 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, a 7-inch digital instrument console, and an air-con vent grille, featuring a Y-shaped design.
The new-gen Duster is expected to be powered by the two turbo petrol engines. These will include a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.3-litre 4-cylinder turbo petrol unit. It is also likely to get a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine that was also offered with first-gen Renault Duster.
Renault is most likely to launch an India-spec Duster sometime in 2025. Upon launch, it will rival the Honda Elevate, Hyundai Creta, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Price-wise, it can fall in the range of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).
