The fourth-gen X-Trail coming to India Will be brought to the country as ABU in limited numbers Likely to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol
Nissan is all set to bring its X-Trail SUV to the Indian market. Ahead of its launch, the brand has released the teaser for the upcoming X-Trail. The fourth-gen model was previously showcased in November 2022 alongside Juke and Qashqai which are also expected to arrive in India.
Those who are not aware, the X-Trail is not a completely new model from the brand coming to India. It was on sale here in its first and second generation. The third-gen SUV was showcased a few years back, though never went on sale officially. The fourth-gen model has been on sale globally since 2021 and is now coming to India.
The X-Trail SUV will be imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) under the government policy. It is said that up to 2,500 vehicles will be imported per year without the need for homologation.
From the design perspective, the SUV features large V-motion front grille and split headligh set-up. Besides, the X-Trail has body creases, making it look sharp.
The X-Trail is likely to have a large floating touchscreen infotainment unit, a digital instrument cluster, an electronic parking brake with auto-hold, a Boss sound system, 3-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a 10.8-inch head-up display, automatic climate control and ADAS.
As for the powertrain, Nissan will offer a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine. Mated with CVT, this engine can deliver 201 bhp of power with 305 Nm of torque.
Upon launch, it will take likes on the Volkswagen Tiguan, Hyundai Tucson, Skoda Kodiaq, Citroen C5, and Jeep Compass.
