The long-awaited Tata Curvv has finally made its India debut in production avatar. Dealer level pre-bookings of the Curvv has already been started. Scheduled to be launched in August, the new model will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in the category. Here are the answers of all the frequently asked questions on the Tata Curvv -
Tata Motors will officially launch the long-awaited Curvv SUV Coupe on August 7, 2024. It is confirmed that the prices of the Curvv EV will be revealed first, while the ICE version prices will be released at a later stage.
The company is yet to reveal the interiors of the Curvv SUV Coupe in the production avatar. However, the spy images suggest that the cabin of the Curvv will share elements with the Nexon and Harrier SUVs. It will come with a layered dashboard layout, which will be dominated by a twin display. It will have a twin-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo, a touch-sensitive climate control panel and a heads-up display.
The new Curvv will come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and voice assist. Other features include a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, ventilated seats, cruise control, push-button start/stop, climate control, wireless phone charging, automatic headlamps and rain sensing wipers.
The Curvv SUV Coupe will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine that produces 125PS and 225Nm of torque. On the other hand, the diesel version will get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo engine that is good for 115PS and 260Nm of torque. The EV is likely to be offered with two battery packs with a range of up to 500km on a single charge.
The exact specifications of the Curvv EV are yet to be revealed. We believe that the SUV Coupe could be offered with two battery packs including a 60kWh unit in the top-end variant. The SUV Coupe will offer an electric range of up to 500km on a single charge.
The Curvv diesel will be positioned above the Nexon diesel, which starts at Rs 10 lakh and goes up to Rs 15.80 lakh. We expect the base Curvv diesel price to start around Rs 11.50-12 lakh. The top-spec version of the Tata Curvv diesel is expected to be around 18-19 lakh.
Yes, the Tata Curvv will come with a panoramic sunroof. It will be the brand's third model to be offered with a skyroof. We expect the model to get panoramic sunroof with mood lights, which is similar to the one offered in the Safari.
Tata Motors will introduce the Curvv SUV Coupe in both ICE and EV powertrains. The electric version of the Curvv will be based on the Acti.ev platform, which underpins the Punch.ev. This versatile platform is compatible with different body styles along with front-wheel and all-wheel-drive setup.
Tata will release the prices of the Curvv SUV Coupe on August 7, 2024. The new model will slot above the Nexon and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others. The Curvv ICE version is most likely to cost somewhere around Rs 10.5 lakh to Rs 19 lakh. On the other hand, the Tata Curvv EV will cost around Rs 18.50 lakh to Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Curvv is a 5-seater Coupe SUV and won't receive a 7-seater iteration. If you plan to buy a 7-seater Tata SUV, we recommend to go for the Safari.
Tata Motors is currently importing batteries from China, Taiwan and Korea. Not just Tata, most of the OEMs are importing their batteries. However, Tata Motors is building a Rs 13,000 crore EV battery plant in Gujarat.
Similar to the Nexon, the Tata Curvv SUV Coupe will be offered with multiple powertrain options. It will come with petrol, diesel and electric engines. Moreover, a CNG version of the SUV Coupe with twin-cylinder technique will also be launched at a later stage. The Curvv CNG will rival the Maruti Grand Vitara CNG and the Toyota Hyryder CNG. It will be the second CNG car to feature a turbocharged petrol engine.
The Curvv will be a mass-market SUV Coupe, which will be positioned between the Tata Nexon and the Harrier. It will come as an alternative to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and others in its league.
