A range of mid-sized electric SUVs to launch in the coming months Tata, Maruti Suzuki, Toyota, and Hyundai will join the game Mahindra BE.05 will make its debut by 2025
The electric vehicle segment is currently dominated by SUVs including the Nexon EV, Punch EV and the MG ZS EV. The trend is likely to continue, as more manufacturers will launch new electric SUVs in our market. In this article, we talk about the upcoming mid-sized electric SUVs that will be launched in our country in the next 1-2 years.

Hyundai is testing the much-awaited Creta EV on the Indian roads. Going by the spy images, it is visible that the new electric SUV will look different from the existing ICE model. The big change will be made inside the cabin, as it will draw inspiration from the global-spec Kona EV.
Not just the interior, the electric powertrain will also be similar to the Kona EV. It is likely to be fitted with a 45kWh battery pack and a front-axle mounted permanent magnet electric motor.
In terms of design elements, it will be quite similar to the Creta facelift. However, Hyundai will give a few design updates to give it an EV look. The SUV will feature a closed-off grille, new front & rear bumper, and all-new aero-optimized alloy wheels. Hyundai will most probably unveil its Creta EV at the Bharat Mobility Show in early 2025.

Tata Motors is also on the brink of bringing its game-changing Tata Curvv EV. It is slated for launch in the next three months. Not only its electric version, the brand will also roll out an internal combustion engine (ICE) version, most likely by Diwali. Although the battery pack is not confirmed, it is likely to feature a battery pack ranging from 40kWh to 60kWh with a range of 500 km approx.

The production version of the Maruti Suzuki eVX concept is likely to make its debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show. The launch is expected by March 2025. It is likely to be offered with two battery options - 48kWh or 60kWh, with a maximum range of 500 km on a single charge. Additionally, it will be manufactured locally at Suzuki’s Gujarat-based manufacturing plant. It is interesting to note that the eVX is not just for India, it will also be exported to select international markets including Europe and Japan.

Next on the line is Toyota Urban SUV Concept, which will be based on the Maruti Suzuki eVX. Even the battery pack will be the same as the EVX. It will be built on an all-new skateboard platform derived from Toyota's global 40PL architecture. As for the launch, it is expected to come in the market in the middle or end of 2025.

Mahindra will start rolling out its BE electric range from October 2025, and the BE. 05-based mid-sized EV will be the first model from the line-up. In terms of dimensions, the new BE.05 EV is 4,370mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,635mm tall. Built on an all-new skateboard platform, it will ride on a long wheelbase of 2,775mm. Further, it will be equipped with a battery pack ranging from 50 to 60 kWh with a range of approximately 500 km.
