Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is preparing to enter the Indian market with its all-new electric SUV, the VF 6. The vehicle was recently spotted testing on public roads in Mumbai, indicating that its official launch in India is just around the corner. This VF 6 will be VinFast’s first offering in the country. Let’s know more!
Indian audiences first saw the VinFast VF 6 at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025 earlier this year. In terms of dimensions, the VF 6 measures 4,238mm in length, 1,820mm in width, and 1,594mm in height. These proportions put it in the same league as the Hyundai Creta, making it suitable for both city and suburban driving. The SUV also rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.
The VF 6 features a bold and sleek design, including full-width LED daytime running lights placed above the headlamps and matching LED tail lamps at the rear. Dual-tone alloy wheels add a sporty look, and the charging port is located on the driver’s side for easy access.
Inside, the VF 6 offers a premium dark brown and black cabin theme with soft-touch materials on the dashboard and door panels. The five-seater layout provides ample space for passengers. Tech-wise, the SUV comes equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, a head-up display, automatic climate control, and heated and ventilated front seats.
VinFast is currently conducting road trials for the VF 6 across multiple Indian cities. These tests are essential for assessing how the EV performs in Indian road and weather conditions, and for checking its compatibility with the local charging infrastructure. This testing phase is a major step toward launching the EV in one of the world’s most promising electric car markets.
Internationally, the VinFast VF 6 is available in two powertrain options: Eco and Plus.
The Eco variant delivers 171bhp and 250Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 400km on a single charge.
The Plus variant provides 198bhp and 309Nm of torque, with a slightly lower range of 381km (WLTP cycle).
Both versions offer a good mix of performance and range, making the VF 6 a compelling option for Indian EV buyers.
Alongside the VF 6, another electric SUV from VinFast — the VF 7 — could also be heading to the Indian market. The VF 7, which made its first appearance in India during the Bharat Mobility 2025 event, was recently spotted at the Mumbai airport. This suggests that the company could launch multiple EVs in India, signaling a strong and serious entry into the competitive Indian EV space.
