Volvo to Introduce Two More Electric SUVs in India

Swedish car manufacturer, Volvo is all set to introduce two more electric SUVs, the EX30 and EX90 in the Indian market next year. As per a recent media report, the brand has confirmed that it plans to expand its EV portfolio by the year 2025. Furthermore, the company has stated that it is actively exploring options for local assembly of both electric vehicles. For the time being, the EVs will be brought to the country as Completely-Knocked Down (CKD) units.

Based on Geely’s SEA platform, the Volvo EX30 is said to be an entry-level electric SUV from the manufacturer. Globally, the electric SUV is available with two battery packs - a 51 kWh having a 344 kms range and a 69 kWh with 460 kms on a single full charge. Further, the vehicle is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in merely 3.4 seconds.

In terms of exterior design, the four-wheeler gets Thor hammer-shaped LED headlamps, a closed grille, LED tail-lamps wrapping around the tailgate, and much more. Inside the cabin, it will provide a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system as made available for the international markets.

Showcased in 2022, the Volvo EX90 is based on the existing Volvo XC90 premium luxury SUV. It uses a dual-motor AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) powertrain. It is believed that the top end variant of the EX90 will come equipped with a bigger 111 kWh battery, offering a WLTP-certified range of 600 kms on a single full charge. It will generate a max power output of 517 bhp with 910 Nm of peak torque.

As far as the exterior design is concerned, the EX90 will offer a blanked-off grille, signature Thor hammer-shaped LED headlamps, 22-inch alloy wheels, split LED tail-lamps and flush door handles. In terms of interior, it will provide a vertically-positioned 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 5G connectivity.

Currently, the automaker sells two electric SUVs in the Indian market, namely the XC40 Recharge and the C40 Recharge. Both these EVs are powered by a 78 kWh battery pack and are available in a dual-motor All-Wheel-Drive setup.
