Kia Motors India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kia Motors Corporation which is the second-largest automobile manufacturer based in South Korea. The company also has its global headquarters in Seoul. A minority stake in this brand is owned by Hyundai Motor Corporation.
Kia Motors made its debut in the Indian market with the launch of the mid-size SUV model Seltos, which went on to become a massive sales success for the company. Currently, all Kia car models except for one are produced at the brand’s manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

Apart from the Seltos, Kia cars offer 4 new models in the Indian market ranging from Rs 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 59.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Some of the top Kia cars’ price in India includes the Sonet (Rs 7.49 lakh), Carens (Rs 10.00 lakh), Carnival (Rs 29.99 lakh), Seltos (Rs 10.49 lakh), and EV6 (Rs 59.95 lakh). The company is gearing up to launch three new products, the Carnival (January 2023), Seltos (January 2023) and the Sportage (July 2023) in the Indian market.
Highest-ever Kia India monthly sales reported was 25,857 units in September 2022. As a result, the manufacturer is on track to surpass its CY21 sales figures and witness a YoY growth of 79 percent in the coming months.

The manufacturer’s best-selling car last month was Seltos with a volume of around 11,000 units. YoY sales were up by 1417 units while the overall growth stood at 14.79 percent. On the other hand, the company also got a boost from the Kia Sonet and the Kia Carens sales. Both models reported around 9,000 units and 5,000 units respectively. The only car to witness negative growth in the company’s line-up was the Kia Carnival, as reports of an updated version launching soon have been on the horizon.
The company has been steadily sorting its production issues and tending to customer and dealer demand by dispatching more and more cars every month.
As far as the positioning is concerned, Kia has been performing well in the Indian market. The company has focused sales volumes from the beginning which placed it greater than the many seasoned industry brands. Moreover, it is likely that the upcoming launches will report a superb sales saga for the company in the coming years.
