Skoda Kodiaq- A New Species of SUV

Skoda has finally unveiled its new premium SUV, the Kodiaq, to the world. The new Skoda is much more than a facelift this time around. Skoda Kodiaq first entered the global market in 2016. Apart from that, the Kodiaq was the first Skoda vehicle to be classified as a mid-size SUV at the time.

Skoda is on fire in the first quarter of 2021. Following the debut of the India-bound Kushaq, the company has now revealed the Kodiaq. The SUV will compete in the premium mid-size SUV segment, with a price tag of more than 30 lakhs in India.

  • Apart from the obvious cosmetic changes, the Skoda Kodiaq will provide the following features to its customers.

  • When you open the hood of the new Skoda Kushaq, you'll see various petrol and diesel engines. It's worth noting, however, that the diesel engine will not be available in India.

  • This SUV will be powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo petrol TSI engine that powers the Skoda Kushaq.

  • This engine is capable of producing 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of peak torque.

  • For the first time, a vRS Kodiaq will be equipped with a powerful 2.0-litre TSI engine that produces 242 horsepower.

  • Despite the lack of a diesel engine, the Kodiaq will be available globally with a 2.0-turbo diesel engine and AWD. When it comes to diesel, there are two models to choose from 150ps and 200ps.

All engines will have an automatic transmission option, with no manual gearbox available.

The traditional Kodiaq gets a two-spoke steering wheel, keeping with Skoda's current theme.

However, the VRS model is the only one with a three-spoke steering wheel.

A 9.2-inch infotainment system with wirelessly connected car technology is also included in the SUV.

Features Include

  • Front seats with massaging and heating LED ambient lighting Premium Canton 10-speaker sound system.

  • 10.25-inch instrument cluster with a plethora of options.

  • ADAS features are also included in the Kodiaq, as they were in the previous model.

Rivalries

To begin with, the Skoda Kodiaq is expected to cost somewhere between 30 and 40 lakhs. As a result, the Hyundai Tuscon is this SUV's main competitor. Not to mention, at this price, the Kodiaq must outperform vehicles such as the Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster, Ford Endeavour, and others.

There are currently no rumours about when this car will be released in India. However, this vehicle is expected to arrive in the second quarter of 2021. Skoda has two other vehicles on the way, including the Kushaq, which is set to arrive later this month. And the Octavia, the most anticipated B-segment sedan.

Skoda Kodiaq is also available in three different versions: vRS, L&K, and Sportline.
