Learn more about Skoda Auto India's journey from its first car model to the future car lineup:

Skoda Auto was introduced into the Indian market in early 2002. The brand kicked off its entry in India with the Octavia model which was ahead of its time as it offered supreme build quality, unique exterior design, premium interior, space for its occupants, a humongous boot to carry a whole lot of luggage, great engine and performance. All these factors contributed to its instant success for the company.
Under the hood, the car was equipped with a 1.8-litre turbocharged petrol engine that was capable of generating 147 bhp of power output and 210 Nm of peak torque. During that time, only a few cars offered advanced features but in the case of Skoda Octavia it came equipped with equipment like ABS, ORVMs, dual-front airbags, power windows, and more. All in all, the performance, handling, and lower initial price made the Octavia win the hearts of Indian customers.

At present, Skoda is offering three sedans and two SUVs for the Indian car market. These five models include Skoda Kushaq, Skoda Slavia, Skoda Octavia, Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq. Prices for the Skoda cars fall in the range of Rs 11.29 lakh to Rs 39.90 lakh (ex-showroom). While Kushaq is the cheapest model with a price range of Rs 11.59 lakh to Rs 19.69 lakh (ex-showroom), the Kodiaq is the most expensive within the brand's portfolio that ranges between Rs 37.49 lakh to Rs 39.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
According to the sales report of February 2023, the Skoda Kushaq was the best-selling model from the brand. 1783 units of this subcompact SUV were sold during the period. Skoda Slavia came in second as the sedan was able to sell 1274 units in the month of February 2023.

Skoda Auto is likely to expand its product portfolio in India. Apart from the existing five cars, the automaker has a lineup of new car models to be launched in the country. It includes the names of Skoda Octavia RS iV, Skoda Enyaq iV, Skoda Fabia Facelift, and Skoda Slavia RS. The Czech brand will be bringing these models between 2023 to 2024 to the Indian automobile market. Stay tuned for more updates!
