JSW MG Motor India is preparing for its next major wave of electrification with multiple NEVs (New Energy Vehicles) are planned to launch in our market in 2026-27. The next big launch from the company is the MG Hector Hawk, which is scheduled to make its debut on August 26, 2026. This flagship SUV will introduce Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) technology in the mass-market SUV segment. 


Here are the top 10 most important things you need to know about the upcoming MG Hector Hawk


Official Launch Timeline


The MG Hector Hawk is slated to make its official India debut on August 26, 2026. It is expected that the new model will go on sale by August-September, ahead of Diwali 2026. The new SUV is built on the new ADAPT (Advanced Drive Architecture Platform Technology) framework, which is compatible with EVs, strong hybrids and plug-in hybrid powertrains. 


Plug-in Hybrid Engine Setup


Unlike conventional mild or strong hybrids, the MG Hector Hawk will be a true Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). It combines a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine, a high capacity electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery. The combined power and torque output stands at 194 bhp and 230 N of torque. 


125km Pure-EV Range & 1000+ Km Total Range


Thanks to a 20.5 kWh battery pack, the MG Hector Hawk can be charged using a standard home wall charger. It is claimed to offer up to 125 km of pure electric range without using a single drop of petrol. Paired with a full tank of petrol, the SUV delivers a total driving range of over 1,000 km. 


All-Electric Variant

JSW MG Motor India will also launch a fully electric (BEV) version of the Hector Hawk, which is likely to be packed with a 69.2 kWh battery pack driving a front-mounted electric motor. The powertrain offers 136bhp and 200Nm of torque, and it is claimed to offer a range of up to 530km. 


Dimensions


The new Hector Hawk is based on the international-spec Wuling Starlight 560. The SUV measures 4745mm in length, 1850mm in width and 1755mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2810mm. 


Exterior Design


The Hector Hawk will look largely identical to the Starlight 560, but it will not have a tradition chrome-heavy designs. It will have sharper European-inspired look, featuring an aggressive blacked-out grille and split dual-LED DRL strips. The SUV rides on 18-inch machine-cut dual-tone alloy wheels, connected LED taillight assembly, and an aggressive bumpers with integrated skid plates. The EV version will have a blanked-off grille and a charging port on the left rear fender. 


High-Tech Interior

The new MG Hector Hawk will get a clean and clutter-free dashboard, comprising an 8.8-inch digital instrument console and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes equipped with features like a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats with ventilation functions, a wireless phone charger, automatic climate control, and others. 


LEVEL-2 ADAS & Safety Suite


In terms of safety and security, the new Hector Hawk will gets six airbags, a tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, an electronic parking brake, a 360-degree surround view camera, and others. The SUV will get LEVEL 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and others. 


Competition


The electric version of the MG Hector Hawk will rival the Mahindra XEV 9S, while the PHEV will rival the Mahindra XUV 7XO and others in the category. 


Expected Pricing


The MG Hector Hawk PHEV is anticipated to launch at an ex-showroom price range between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 28 lakh. On the other hand, its EV could be priced as low as Rs 20 lakh.
