Seeing the success of Toyota hybrids, brands like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Kia, Renault and Honda are looking to introduce their hybrid lineups in India. Adding to it, JSW MG Motor India and JSW Motors are also introducing new energy vehicles with hybrids and PHEVs in our market. Here is a list of top 10 upcoming hybrid cars set to launch in the Indian market -
It will be the first model to feature Maruti Suzuki's new series hybrid powertrain, which is currently under development. This hybrid setup will use a 1.2L petrol engine, an electric motor and a small battery pack. The 1.2L 3-cylinder NA petrol engine will act as a generator to charge a small battery, while an electric motor drives the wheels. It is expected to deliver a fuel efficiency of around 35kmpl.

It is built on the RGMP modular platform, which also underpins the Nissan Tekton. The new Duster will soon receive a strong hybrid powertrain. It will feature a 1.8-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine paired with two electric motors - a 20bhp motor working as starter generator and a 49bhp traction motor that drives the wheels. The system is further assisted by a 1.4kWh battery pack. The hybrid powertrain offers 160bhp of maximum power and 172Nm of torque. It will be the most powerful hybrid model in its category.

Scheduled to be launched in 2027, the new Creta will receive an all-new hybrid powertrain comprising a 1.5L NA petrol engine, an electric motor and a small battery pack. Hyundai will be targeting a fuel efficiency of around 25kmpl.

Both SUVs are based on the K3 platform, which is compatible with hybrid and electric powertrains. The Seltos hybrid will directly rival the Maruti Grand Vitara, Victoris and Toyota Hyryder hybrid.

The French automaker has officially announced plans to launch an all-new 7-seater SUV in the Indian market in early 2027. This SUV will be based on the RGMP architecture that also underpins the Renault Duster. Rumoured to be called the Boreal or Bigster, the SUV has already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. It will be powered by the same 1.8-litre strong hybrid powertrain that powers the Duster hybrid, producing 160bhp and 172Nm of torque.

JSW Motors will officially enter as an independent automobile player in India by Diwali 2026. The company will launch 4 new energy vehicles, and its first model will be launched in January 2027. It is most likely to be the Jetour T2 PHEV, which has been caught testing numerous times on the Indian roads. It is claimed to offer an extraordinary combined driving range of over 1200km on a full fuel tank and battery charge. It gets a 1.5L i-DM plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.5L turbo petrol engine, an electric motor and a 26.7kWh battery pack. This setup offers a combined power and torque output of 381bhp and 610NM, respectively. It is claimed to offer a pure EV range of up to 139 km.
BYD India has officially announced plans of introducing the Seal U plug-in hybrid SUV by the end of 2026. It is powered by the brand's DM-I Super Plug-in Hybrid EV tech, which uses a 1.5L turbo petrol engine paired with dual electric motors and an 18.3 kWh battery pack. It offers 319bhp and 550Nm of torque. The hybrid setup is claimed to deliver a range of over 1200km, with an electric-only range of 126km.

The current-generation Carnival premium MPV is available with a 2.2L diesel engine in India. However, the company will soon introduce the MPV with a hybrid powertrain. In the global markets, the MPV gets a 1.6-litre turbo-petrol engine paired to a parallel hybrid system, and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The hybrid setup produces 272bhp and a peak torque of 367Nm.
Kia has confirmed that the next-gen Sonet will receive a hybrid powertrain; however, the SUV will initially be offered with existing engine options. The sub-4 metre SUV with a hybrid powertrain is expected to be launched in 2028. It is likely to get an all-new hybrid setup, which could use the 1.2L NA petrol or a new 1.2L turbo petrol engine. The company could also use the upcoming 1.5L strong hybrid engine, which will debut with the next-gen Creta.
Renault will launch the Brigder SUV in 2027. The SUV will also get a hybrid powertrain, which will utilise the new 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine. The Bridger hybrid is expected to be launched sometime in 2028-29.
