In the fast-evolving Indian car market, BMW enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting lineup of new cars. BMW has solid plans to introduce several new models, including the highly anticipated BMW M3 and 5 Series. Additionally, the BMW iX1, an all-electric counterpart of the X1 is also set to launch soon.

BMW 5 Series

BMW 5 Series

The 2024 BMW 5 Series was globally unveiled during the first half of 2023. Now, the brand is planning to bring this next-generation model to India by mid-2024.

The latest model will feature an evolutionary design, however, it will share a few similarities to the outgoing model. Additionally, the vegan leather will be used for the upholstery. The interior carries the same design as the outgoing model. It includes a curved dual-display setup consisting of a 14.9-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Other notable features include the latest iDrive 8.5 software, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto and CarPlay, ambient lighting, wireless charging, gesture control support, and more.

As for the powertrain, the all-new gen 5 Series will come equipped with both petrol and diesel units. These include a 2.0-litre turbo 4-cylinder (for the 530i) that can produce 205 bhp. Whereas for the 520d, it offers a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel that can make 197 bhp. In the 530e and the strong-hybrid unit, the combined power is offered at 299 bhp. Its top-spec model (550e) 6-cylinder strong hybrid can deliver 489 bhp of max power.

Upon launch, the BMW 5 Series will compete against the Mercedes E Class, Audi A6, and Volvo S90.

BMW iX1

BMW iX1

Next on the line is BMW iX1 which is the all-electric version of BMW X1. Available in only a single variant; xDrive30 trim, this EV will offer a seating capacity of five people.

Like its ICE version, the 2023 BMW iX1 will also get a curved integrated digital driver's display and an infotainment system. There will also be a floating armrest with controls to select gears. Other notable features include an optional 205 W 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, electrically adjustable front seats with massage functions, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, and ambient lighting.

In terms of performance, the upcoming iX1 will come equipped with dual electric motors, offering the combined power output of 313 bhp and 494 Nm of peak torque. With the all-wheel drivetrain, the car will offer a claimed range of up to 438 km.

BMW is likely to retail this EV from Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards. Volvo XC40 Recharge will be its direct rival in the EV segment.

BMW M3

BMW M3

Another upcoming BMW car is the M3 which is expected to launch in October 2023. The car will get the new curved dual display running the latest generation i-Drive software.

The M3 model is currently available in a petrol engine of 3.0-litre, Inline 6 Cylinder turbocharged engine that can generate 480 bhp of power. As far as the prices are concerned, the upcoming BMW M3 could be priced at Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom).
