Since 2005, the Maruti Suzuki Swift has been consistently ruling the compact hatchback segment for 19 years. The carmaker recently launched its fourth generation Swift in India and there are several reasons why the car sells so much and still fetches amazing sales numbers. It rivals the likes of the Tata Altroz and Hyundai i10.
However, a major reason behind its impressive sales numbers is that the hatchback packs everything ranging from a sporty exterior to a fuel-efficient engine, the latter of which is also the case with most Maruti Suzuki Cars. Let us now consider these factors in detail:

With the launch of the new Suzuki Swift, Maruti claims a maximum mileage of 25.75 kilometres per litre. Notably, the India-spec Swift misses out on the hybrid tech offered in Europe but still manages to clock superior fuel efficiency. Another reason why this is achieved is because of the drop in one cylinder, bringing it down to three cylinders. With such a fuel-efficient mileage figure, the new Swift has become even more desirable.

As has been the norm with Suzuki cars, the Swift continues to be extremely low on maintenance and repairs are economical as well. Maruti sells its spare parts under the Maruti Genuine Parts or MGP brand via its country-wide service centres. Even the engine is engineered for easy accessibility and repairs are quick. Then, the Japanese reliability factor also helps as their cars rarely break down. This also helps in reducing labour costs and time.

In the used car market, the Swift is always in demand and finding buyers is never a problem with this car. With the upfront cost already affordable, Swift becomes an interesting package and Maruti Suzki’s brand value also helps. It was available with a CNG until its previous generation and was very high on mileage but the current model does not have a CNG lineup. Reportedly, the Japanese carmaker has plans to introduce the new Swift with a CNG setup in the coming months.

The new Swift’s ex-showroom price starts at Rs. 6.49 lakh and goes up to Rs. 9.64 lakh. Swift is available with manual and AMT transmissions in India. The range-topping ZXI+ trim is significantly cheaper than the corresponding model of the Tata Altroz and with the new generational update, it has received a ton of enhancements and improvements, both inside and outside. So, it can be easily concluded that the Maruti Suzuki Swift is an extremely value-for-money hatchback car and packs a lot of important features as well.
