With the global unveiling just around the corner, Skoda Cars has released the first official pictures of the upcoming Superb and Kodiaq’s interior. While as expected it features multiple screens and a minimalist theme, Skoda has decided to retain a few conventional buttons and dials. However, the latter has been given a modern touch. We take a closer look.
Both the new Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq get a 13-inch infotainment system and a 10-inch digital instrument cluster that’s complimented by a HUD. One of the most notable changes to the new interior over the outgoing one is the new gear lever which now sits at the steering wheel column. In doing so, Skoda has freed up more space between the front seats that can be used for stowage areas.
The biggest difference between the 2024 Skoda Superb and Skoda Kodiaq’s interior is that the former has “hidden” air vents and vertical fins on the dashboard while the Kodiaq features more leather inserts on the passenger side of the dash and gets vertical air vents. The Superb’s LED ambient lighting strip goes below the central air vents whereas it goes over it on the Kodiaq. Both models get a USB-C port in the rearview mirror as well as smartphone wireless charging at 15W, with the Kodiaq offering active cooling for two devices. There are also up to 4 USB-C ports with a 45W power output. Like previous Superb and Kodiaq generations, the new models get an umbrella stowed away at the front door and an ice scraper in the fuel-filler cap.
As mentioned above, the new Skoda Superb and Kodiaq do retain a few physical dials. However, the rotary dials have a built-in 1.25-inch screen that can access multiple settings. Dubbed the Smart Dial, the functionality on the screens depends on the level of equipment. The two outer rotary push-buttons operate the climate control functions and the seat heating/ventilation of the front seats. Meanwhile, the central dial offers functions like volume controls, fan speed, map zoom, and driving modes. Pressing down on the central dial also allows the user to switch between functions that can be configured via the infotainment system.
