Denza D9 executive electric MPV with 600km range is heading to India Z9 GT Shooting brake could be the second Denza model in India
Denza, the luxury car brand of the Chinese carmaker BYD, has announced its official India entry via a recent social media post. If reports are to be believed, Denza will initially launch two luxury vehicles, including the Denza D9 luxury MPV and the Z9 GT Shooting Brake.
The recent social media post from DENZA India presents the company's blue-and-silver hourglass-like logo with "Arriving Soon" written above. The teaser comes with a caption stating that Denza is all set to introduce a "sophisticated, high-performance EV experience" to the Indian market. The upcoming DENZA brand will be positioned above the BYD in India, and its upcoming products will be priced above Rs 80 lakh price point.
For people not in the know, DENZA was first introduced in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Mercedes-Benz Group. BYD completely bought the Denza luxury brand stakes from Mercedes-Benz in 2024. The luxury EV brand currently sells products in markets like Southeast Asia, China, Australia, Europe and Latin America. The company is currently selling EVs and plug-in hybrids.

BYD will position the Denza D9 between the MG M9 and the Toyota Vellfire in the luxury MPV segment. We expect the new Denza D9 executive MPV could be priced somewhere around Rs 90 lakh to Rs 1 crore. In the global markets, the D9 is available with electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. However, the electric derivative of the executive MPV will be introduced in our market, as EVs attract 5 per cent GST while the PHEV attracts 28 per cent GST.
Dimensionally, the Denza D9 is 5250mm in length, 1960mm in width and 1920mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 3110mm. The MPV has a luggage carrying capacity of 410-litres, which can be extended up to 2310-litres by folding the rear seats. It is packed with a 103.36 kWh battery pack paired with 308 hp, front-mounted electric motor offering 360 Nm of torque. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in 9.5 seconds. The MPV offers a pure electric range of up to 600 km on a single charge.

The company will launch its high-performance Denza D9 GT in the Indian market. The electric fastback gets a triple-motor setup and produces a massive 1156 hp. The EV gets a 122.5 kWh battery pack, and the triple electric motor offers a peak torque of 1,210Nm. This high-performance electric fastback accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 2.7 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 270kmph.
This four-door luxury shooting brake with a fastback-style design, has a long, low profile, frameless windows, 21-inch alloys and a large rear diffuser. It gets active rear-wheel steering and can perform special sideways movement with tight 360 degree turns using its advanced steering system. The electric model also gets self-parking and Disus-A dual-chamber air suspension.
