Maruti Suzuki Escudo Hybrid likely to launch in India soon. Expected to come with a strong-hybrid powertrain for better mileage. SUV design and feature-rich cabin could attract urban buyers. Competitive pricing may give it an edge over rivals like Toyota Hyryder and Honda Elevate. Could be Maruti’s next big hit in the growing SUV market.
Maruti Suzuki Victoris (Escudo) Hybrid is all set to launch in India on September 3, 2025, and industry buzz suggests it could become one of the most talked-about midsize SUVs of the year. Slotted below the Grand Vitara, the Escudo aims to offer modern technology, practical design, and aggressive pricing to capture a wide audience.
Here are a few reasons why the Maruti Suzuki Escudo could become the next big hit in India:
Unlike the Grand Vitara, which is sold via the premium NEXA outlets, the Escudo will be retailed through Maruti’s Arena network. This move gives it mass-market reach, ensuring accessibility even in smaller towns.
The Escudo will share the 1.5-litre mild-hybrid and 1.5-litre strong-hybrid petrol engines with the Grand Vitara. The strong-hybrid setup produces 115bhp while offering impressive fuel efficiency, a key factor for Indian buyers. A CNG variant is also likely, along with both manual and automatic gearbox choices.
Buyers can expect premium equipment such as:
- Nine-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Six airbags as standard
- Wireless smartphone charger
- Semi-digital instrument cluster
- Multiple drive modes
- Possible Level-2 ADAS and Dolby Atmos audio on top trims
Early reports suggest the Escudo could be slightly longer than the Grand Vitara, offering a roomy cabin and a large boot. This makes it ideal for families and long-distance travellers.
Expected to be priced between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom), the Escudo will target value-conscious buyers without compromising on features.
The SUV will go head-to-head with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Hyryder, Honda Elevate, and Mahindra Scorpio N. Maruti’s wide service network and brand trust could give it an extra edge over the competition.
