Carens Clavis CNG revealed with 1.5-litre engine. 95bhp and 123Nm in CNG mode. Seven-seat layout with 60-litre CNG tank.
Kia India has revealed the Carens Clavis CNG as part of its future product plans. The announcement comes on the same day as the launch of the Kia Sorento, which starts at Rs 27.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia has shared only a few details about the upcoming CNG version for now. However, the car displayed at the event gives us a good idea of what to expect from this new variant.

The Kia Carens Clavis CNG will use a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. It will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. In CNG mode, the engine produces 95bhp and 123Nm. The CNG version will use a single CNG cylinder with a 60-litre capacity. Kia has not yet revealed the fuel efficiency figures or the exact petrol-mode output of the CNG version.

Kia has not confirmed the variants or colour options for the Carens Clavis CNG yet. However, the car displayed at the event came with several familiar features. These include projector headlamps, LED DRLs, LED light bars at the front and rear, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamps and fog lights. The overall design remains similar to the regular Carens Clavis, although the CNG version appears to be aimed at buyers looking for a more affordable running cost.
Inside, the Carens Clavis CNG gets a fully digital instrument cluster with a dedicated display for the CNG level. There is also a separate switch that allows the driver to move between petrol and CNG modes. The single CNG cylinder is placed in the boot. As a result, boot space is expected to be lower compared with the standard version. The cabin shown at the event also features a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel, manual AC, hill hold control and a basic infotainment screen. The dashboard gets a dual-tone theme with blue inserts.
The displayed Carens Clavis CNG comes with a seven-seat layout. Kia is yet to confirm the complete seating and variant line-up, but the six-seat version is unlikely to be offered with the CNG powertrain. This could make the CNG version a practical choice for buyers who need a three-row MPV and want to keep fuel costs under control.
Kia has not announced the exact launch date or prices for the Carens Clavis CNG. The company is also yet to reveal which variants and colours will be available. More details about the CNG version are expected to be announced closer to its launch.
