Mahindra has introduced its all-new NU_IQ platform, a modular monocoque architecture that will underpin the brand’s next generation of SUVs. With support for ICE, EV and AWD powertrains, this modular architecture is set to deliver advanced technology, comfort and 5-star safety standards.

Traditionally known for its ladder-frame SUVs, Mahindra is now shifting focus to monocoque-based models for improved efficiency and lower emissions. According to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, the NU_IQ platform is built for the future and will help the brand strengthen its presence in global markets.
At the launch, Mahindra showcased four new SUV concepts - Vision X, Vision S, Vision T and Vision SXT. All these are said to be around 80% close to production models.
- Vision S is expected to join the Scorpio family
- Vision X will expand the XUV lineup
- Vision T will be part of the Thar family
- Vision SXT is likely to strengthen Mahindra’s premium SUV segment
While the NU_IQ platform is capable of supporting multiple body styles, Mahindra confirmed it will only use it for SUVs. The platform has been engineered to handle multi-fuel options including petrol, diesel and electric powertrains. Battery packs from the company’s BE and XEV line-up will be integrated into future EVs built on NU_IQ.
One of the highlights of the NU_IQ platform is the availability of all-wheel drive (AWD) on both ICE and EV models. This is a significant achievement as it ensures strong performance across terrains. The SUVs will also benefit from a flat floor design, offering better comfort and space for passengers.
Mahindra is also introducing premium features with NU_IQ-based models. These include a 5-link rear suspension with active dampers, a variable-ratio steering rack, and a new digital architecture called NU_UX with a modern, minimalistic interface.
In terms of safety, Mahindra is targeting a 5-star NCAP crash rating globally (BNCAP, ANCAP, and Euro NCAP), ensuring that upcoming SUVs meet international safety standards.

Mahindra confirmed that all four concepts will make it to production, with the Vision S likely to be the first model, expected to debut in 2027. The company’s strategy is to expand its core brands - Thar, Bolero, Scorpio, XUV and BE, rather than introduce entirely new nameplates.
