Mercedes-Benz India recently launched the updated iteration of the second-generation GLE Coupe, the AMG 53. Starting at Rs 1.85 crore (ex-showroom), this stylish SUV features cosmetic improvements while retaining its turbo-petrol engine.
From the design perspective, the GLE 53 Coupe facelift mostly remains unchanged. However, the vehicle looks a bit fresh with subtle changes in the front bumper, headlights, and tail lights.
Moving on to the cabin, it highlights a new steering wheel made of leather and Alcantara. Besides, the interior looks similar to the recently updated GLE, offering customizable features like additional control buttons on the steering wheel, a heads-up display alongside heated and ventilated front seats.
If required, you can also add optional equipment like AMG Track Pace software, a high-performance braking system from AMG, and the Acoustic Comfort Package.
AMG GLE 53 4MATIC Facelift is equipped with top-notch safety features. The premium vehicle provides 9 airbags, a 360-degree camera, Blind Spot Assist, and a 'Transparent Bonnet' as standard.
Under the hood, the facelifted variant shares the same powertrain option as its predecessor. It is equipped with a 3.0-litre 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. Performance-wise, it delivers an impressive power output of 432 bhp and 560 Nm of peak torque. Transmission option includes a 9-speed automatic. It also offers Mercedes-Benz’s iconic 4Matic AWD system.
The notable change is the addition of a new 48V mild-hybrid system. This addition provides an extra 20 bhp and 200 Nm when necessary, making the car more powerful.
As a result, the 0 to 100 kmph sprint time is now quicker by 0.3 seconds, boasting an impressive 5 seconds. The top speed remains capped at 250 kph.
Mercedes Benz has priced its facelifted GLE 53 Coupe at Rs 1.85 crore (ex-showroom). In India, it faces limited competition, with Porsche Cayenne Coupe (Rs 1.41 crore, ex-showroom) and Audi RS Q8 (Rs 2.07 crore, ex-showroom).
