MG Motor is planning to introduce a facelifted Gloster in India soon. This will be the first update to the flagship SUV since the current model was launched in 2020. It will likely get an exterior refresh and an updated interior with added features. Spy shots from a road test have revealed details about the facelifted Gloster for Indian roads.
The test mule in the spy shots is clad in full camouflage. However, it did reveal a few details about what the upcoming Gloster facelift will look like. While the front end isn’t visible, the updated SUV will have an updated rear end with new taillights, redesigned bootlid, a rear bumper, and repositioned reflectors. Elements like the rear spoiler with integrated stop light, dual and exhausts are similar to the current model. The side profile also largely remains unchanged but gets new diamond-cut alloy wheels while the roof rails are missing in the test mule. Maybe MG will offer it as an optional accessory.
Moving inside, the basic layout of the MG Gloster’s dashboard will be retained. However, it will get a few updates like a new interior colour scheme, a larger infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, new climate control buttons, an updated steering wheel, and added ADAS features.
Powering the Gloster facelift will be the same 2-litre turbodiesel motor as the current model, but may be slightly tweaked to offer better performance. It pumps out 213 bhp with 479 Nm of peak torque and is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
MG is yet to officially announce when the facelifted Gloster will arrive in India. According to the latest reports, the flagship SUV will likely be unveiled around the first quarter of 2024. Upon launch, the Gloster will compete against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and Škoda Kodiaq.
