We informed you earlier that the long-awaited Dacia Bigster SUV will make global debut at the 2024 Paris Motor Show. Ahead of the public debut, Renault's sister brand, Dacia, has released pictures and details of the SUV. It will also go on sale in select international markets under Renault nameplate where Dacia is not present.
As promised, the overall styling of the Dacia Bigster remains true to its concept. In fact, the 5th generation Duster borrows its design from the Bigster concept. The SUV could be called the Renault Bigster when it arrives in our market.

The big news is that the Renault has only released the Dacia Bigster with 5-seats, but it is more spacious and packed with more features. In terms of proportions, the SUV is 4.57 meters long, 1.81 meters wide and 1.71 meters tall. The SUV rides on a 2.7 meters long wheelbase, which is again bigger than the new Duster. The SUV rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and comes with dual-tone paintwork.
In terms of features, the 5-seater premium SUV gets electric tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, wireless phone charging, an electrically adjustable driver's seat, a 10-inch digital driver's display, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, and dual-zone climate control. The SUV also gets Level 2 ADAS tech, offering adaptive cruise control, lane assist, auto high beam, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and others.

The SUV comes equipped with a hybrid engine. It is the first Renault Group vehicle to use a Hybrid 155 setup, which comprise of a combustion engine, two electric motors, a 1.4 kWh battery and a 6-speed automatic gearbox (4 gears for ICE & 2 gears for the electric motors).
The four-cylinder petrol engine produces 108bhp, while the electric motors adds another 50bhp. The second electric motor works as a starter/generator. In fact, the Bigster will start in pure electric mode. The company has not revealed complete details of the new powertrain, but it is claimed that the SUV will operate in zero-emission mode in the city for up to 80% of the time.
The SUV comes equipped with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that benefits from a mild-hybrid setup. It is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The SUV comes as a front-wheel-drive model, but a 4WD layout will come as an optional. The all-wheel-drive version will come with three pedals. The SUV offers hill descent control and multiple driving modes - Snow, Mud/Sand, Normal, Off-Road and Eco.
The Renault Bigster also comes with the Eco-G 140, featuring a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo engine. This model runs on liquified petroleum gas or LPG and offers a range of 1450km. It can accommodate 99-litres of fuel including a 50-litres of gasoline and 49-litres of LPG in a tank under the trunk.
Dacia is also offering some additional goodies, like a double bed that deploys in less than 2 mins once you fold down the 40:20:40 split bench seat. The Sleep pack also offers storage table and dedicated cargo areas. The SUV offers a boot space of 667-litres, and customers can add roof rack to accommodate more luggage.
Renault has confirmed that the 3rd generation Duster will be launched in the Indian market in 2025. The French automaker will also launch the 7-seater version of the SUV. The Bigster version will also arrive in our market, but in a 7-seater avatar. Both models are based on Renault-Nissan alliance's CMF-B modular platform, which will be heavily localized to achieve competitive pricing. The SUV is expected to feature a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine in our market.
