New Fortuner expected by 2027. Design and feature upgrades coming. Engines likely to remain the same.
Toyota Fortuner has been one of the most popular premium SUVs in India. Known for its strong road presence and reliability, it continues to have a loyal fan base.
Now, Toyota is preparing a new-generation Fortuner, which is expected to debut globally by the end of 2026 and launch in India in early 2027. A test model has already been spotted overseas, giving us an early look at what’s coming.
The new Fortuner is likely to get a fresh and more muscular design.
While the overall shape may remain similar, the SUV is expected to look more upright and wider. The front could feature a split headlamp setup, a larger grille, and a redesigned bumper. Slim LED daytime running lights and a flatter bonnet are also expected.
At the rear, changes may include new tail lamps, a revised bumper, and updated styling elements, while keeping its familiar SUV stance.

The next-generation Fortuner could be built on an updated ladder-frame platform, similar to the one used in the Toyota Hilux.
This update is expected to improve ride comfort, strength and off-road capability, making the SUV more capable than before.
The interior of the new Fortuner is expected to be more modern and feature-rich.
It could get a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver display, improving the overall cabin experience.
The focus will be on making the SUV feel more premium while keeping its practicality intact.
The test model was seen with sensors and cameras, hinting at the addition of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).
This could bring features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist and automatic emergency braking, making the Fortuner safer and more advanced.

Toyota is expected to continue with its existing engine options.
The SUV will likely retain the 2.7-litre petrol engine and the 2.8-litre diesel engine. The diesel variant may also continue with the 48V mild-hybrid system, known as Neo Drive.
Gearbox options and the 4WD system are also expected to remain unchanged.
