Next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero Global Debut in 2025 - Testing Begins

Next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero debut likely in 2025 It is expected to be based on Outlander's Unibody platform The SUV could get a plug-in hybrid engine

We informed you earlier that the iconic Mitsubishi Pajero will return in a new avatar. Now, a camouflaged prototype has been spotted in Southern Europe. This unnamed SUV is rumoured to be the next-gen Pajero (Montero in select international markets). It is expected that the SUV will make its global debut sometime later this year.

Going by the spy images, it is visible that the Pajero retains the traditional off-roaders styling with a tall, square profile with an upright nose. There is a wider front grille, flanked by vertically-stacked LED daytime running lamps. Also visible is a bold skid plate that adds to its rugged look.

The side profile seems inspired by the DST concept that debuted in October 2024. Its rear design seems inspired by the latest Nissan Patrol, featuring vertical window, connected LED tail-lights and massive bumper that houses an oversized skid plate.

Some media reports claim that the next-gen Mitsubishi Pajero could ride on the unibody platform that underpins the Outlander. However, the company could use the traditional ladder-frame setup.

It is expected that the production version of the SUV could replace the Pajero Sport, and could be called the Mitsubishi Pajero. The SUV is likely to share proportions with the unibody Outlander. It will have shorter overhang and a more upright windshield.

The next Mitsubishi Pajero could get the 302hp, plug-in hybrid engine that powers the Outlander. Speculations also suggest that the SUV could use the Triton pick-up’s 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine that produces 201hp. An electric version could also join the line-up at a later stage.
