Trim naming scheme to be adopted from the Tata Punch Will have 11 variants on offer 14 September launch
Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the new Nexon facelift in the Indian marketon 14 September, kicking off its launch season. We have already reported about the upcoming Tata Nexon Facelifts exterior design, interior layout, and powertrain details. Now, the latest reports have revealed the trim levels along with spy shots from a TVC shoot for the new SUV.
Previously Tata Motors offered the Nexon sub-compact SUV in over 50 trim levels, each starting with the letter X. But for the new model, the company has decided to end the confusion and adopt a simpler naming scheme as the Tata Punch.
The upcoming Nexon facelift will be offered in 11 variants, namely the Smart, Smart+, Smart+ (S), Pure, Pure (S), Creative, Creative+, Creative+ (S), Fearless, Fearless (S) and Fearless+ (S).
According to the new naming scheme, models with + represent a factory fit optional package while models marked (S) come provided with a single pane electric sunroof.
The facelifted Tata Nexon will look quite different from the outside when compared to the current model. Inspired by the Tata Curvv concept, the new model features a new split-headlight setup with vertical housing, upright and squared-off front end and new alloy wheels. At the rear, the new SUV will feature an angular windscreen along with a wrap-around tail lamp connected by a full-length LED light bar. We can also spot a new updated rear spoiler along with a vertically stack diffuser which helps tie the front and the rear end design.
Inside, the new Nexon will feature a comprehensively redesigned interior. It gets a new dashboard with slimmer AC vents, a Haptic Touch control panel for climate control, and dual 10.25-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The facelifted Nexon will also get new features like ventilated seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, sequential turn indicators, and front parking sensors.
Tata will continue to offer the Nexon with both petrol and diesel powertrain options. The former is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 120 bhp with 170 Nm of max torque. Meanwhile, the 1.5-litre turbo diesel pumps out 115 bhp with 260 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT for both powertrains. Additionally, Tata will introduce a new 5-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox option with the petrol powertrain.
Tata is expected to introduce the new Nexon facelift on 14 September, just before the festive season. With the amount of changes and new features it will be getting, the new Nexon is likely to be priced at a slight premium over the current model’s Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 14.60 lakh (ex-showroom) price range.
