Tata Sierra Top Speed Sets at 190kmph For Customers

Tata Motors has announced that its Sierra 1.5L turbocharged petrol version hits a top speed of 222kmph at NATRAX, Indore. The speeds were achieved under specified test conditions, which shows the performance capability of the 1.5L Hyperion engine in a parallel run. However, Tata Motors has confirmed that the Tata Sierra units to be delivered to customers will come with an electronically limited top speed of 190kmph.

The new 1.5-litre direct-injection turbo petrol engine is capable of producing 158bhp at 5,000rpm and a peak torque of 255Nm at 1750-4000rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The same engine will also power the Tata Harrier and Safari petrol, which are scheduled to be launched in the next few days.

Another big update from Tata Motors is that the new Sierra has achieved a milestone of entering the India Book of Records for maximum fuel efficiency achieved in 12 hours. n a certified run at NATRAX Indore, the Sierra delivered an exceptional 29.9 kmpl, surpassing the previous national benchmark. The feat was executed by the Pixel Motion team, who drove the 1.5L Hyperion-powered Sierra continuously from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on November 30, 2025, with only brief halts for driver swaps.

Tata Motors has confirmed that the fuel efficiency and top speed tests were conducted in a controlled environment by trained and expert drivers under monitored conditions.

Tata Sierra Other Engine Options and Details

The entry-level variants of the Sierra are powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 105bhp and a peak torque of 145Nm at 2100rpm. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The diesel version gets a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo unit that produces 116bhp and up to 280Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
