1. Tata Punch
 

The Punch CNG is the cheapest CNG SUV on sale in the Indian market. The CNG range of the micro SUV is available in the price bracket of Rs 7.23 lakh to Rs 9.85 lakh (ex-showroom). This small SUV is packed with Tata's twin-cylinder CNG kit, which ensures enough range and bigger boot space. It is powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. 

In the CNG mode, the powertrain offers 72.41bhp of power and 103Nm of peak torque. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Punch CNG is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26.99 km/kg.

2. Hyundai Exter
 

Customers can also opt for the Exter micro SUV in the CNG category over Tata Punch CNG. However, Exter CNG is only available in two higher variants - S and SX - priced at Rs 8.43 lakh and Rs 9.16 lakh, respectively. The CNG version is equipped with a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. In the CNG mode, the powertrain offers 67.72bhp and 95.2Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels comes as standard. It returns an ARAI certified mileage of 27.1km/kg.

3. Maruti Fronx or Toyota Taisor
 

The next model in our list of best CNG SUVs in India is the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, which is sold through NEXA dealership. Toyota is also selling the re-badged version of the Fronx, called the Urban Cruiser Taisor in the country. While the Fronx CNG is available in two variants - Sigma and Delta, the Taisor CNG is available in a single variant called the E CNG.

The Fronx Sigma and Delta CNG are priced at Rs 8.46 lakh and Rs 9.32 lakh, respectively. On the other hand, the Taisor E CNG is tagged at Rs 8.71 lakh. 

Both models are powered by a tried & tested 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The powertrain produces 76.43bhp of maximum power and 98.5Nm of torque.

This engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Fronx & Taisor CNGs are highly fuel efficient and claim to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 28.5km/kg.

4. Maruti Brezza
 

Maruti Brezza CNG is one of the best CNG SUVs on sale in our market. What's more interesting is that all the variants of the Brezza are offered with a CNG option. It is available in 3 variants - Lxi CNG, Vxi CNG and ZXi CNG - priced at Rs 9.29 lakh, Rs 10.64 lakh and Rs 12.10 lakh, respectively. 

The Brezza CNG is powered by a 1.5-litre, K15C, 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the Grand Vitara, Ciaz and Ertiga. In the CNG mode, the powertrain offers 86.63bhp and 121.5Nm of peak torque.

A 5-speed manual gearbox with front-wheel-drive layout comes as standard. It is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 25.51km/kg. 

5. Maruti Grand Vitara or Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder
 

Similar to the Fronx & Taisor, customers can also opt between the Grand Vitara CNG and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG. The Grand Vitara CNG is available in two variants - Delta CNG and Zeta CNG - priced at Rs 13.15 lakh and Rs 14.96 lakh, respectively.

Similarly, the Hyryder CNG is also offered in two variants - S CNG and G CNG - priced at Rs 13.71 lakh and Rs 15.59 lakh, respectively. 

Both models are powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. Coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox, this powertrain produces 87bhp and 121.5Nm of torque.

It is claimed to offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 26.6km/kg.
