BMW has launched its iX1 LWB at Bharat Mobility Show 2025 in India. What is important in this aspect is that the company is introducing its first vehicle here, which is assembled at the local level. The iX1 LWB is a variant on the standard model offering more space and comfort, which can make it more perfect for customers as an electric SUV with luxury and affordability attached to it. The demand for EVs in India has seen a rise, and of late, the BMW too has focused on luxury along with practicality in the iX1 LWB.
Let's take a closer look at what it offers and why it stands out in its class.

The BMW iX1 LWB is equipped with a 66.4kWh lithium-ion battery pack with two permanent magnet synchronous electric motors. Power is therefore balanced by using one at the front and one at the rear axle. BMW iX1 LWB delivers up to 204 bhp and 250 Nm of torque, resulting in a top speed of 180 kmph. Its launch from 0 to 100 km/h in just 8.6 seconds.
The best part is range with regards to iX1 LWB. This goes from a very impressive 531 km on a single charge by the MIDC cycle to really make it ideally suitable for every kind of short daily city commuting, on longer trips over the weekends.
The iX1 LWB is equipped with a 130kW fast charger that delivers a 120 km range in just 10 minutes. An 11kW charger will fill up the battery from 0% to 100% within 6.5 hours for home charging.

The BMW iX1 LWB is big, stylishly designed, and has the record for being one of the longest 5-seater SUVs in India. On the front of the car lies the kidney grille of the car, the slim LED headlight, sporty features, like aluminum roof rails, long roofline, and square wheel arches, as well as rides on 18-inch M light alloy wheels. The iX1 LWB comes in five metallic colours: Mineral White, Skyscraper Grey, M Carbon Black, M Portimao Blue, and Sparkling Copper Grey.
The outside does not differ too much from a standard BMW iX but boasts some exclusive elements that define it as an electric car. Its kidney grille comes with small, golden triangles which make it rather futuristic-looking, and its front features BMW's signature twin LED headlights. Its side looks as strong as that of any other SUV; however, its lines are a little more muscular, and it's equipped with a sporty diffuser in the rear. The roof rails are made of aluminum. There are flush door handles that become part of the body of the car and contribute to it being aerodynamic.

Inside, the BMW iX1 LWB continues the tradition of luxury instilled in BMW with spaciousness and comfort. As is the case with many design elements with the regular X1, the LWB version provides ample space. It has a 10.25-inch digital display for the driver and a 10.7-inch high-resolution touchscreen for infotainment, both included in the dashboard, integrated quite smoothly. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and has features to customize driving modes, display themes, and ambient lighting.
This includes the very impressive audio experience, a Harman Kardon surround sound system with 12 speakers so that nothing fills the cabin but clear and rich sound. The cabin is made using the highest quality leatherette. High-quality leatherette coupled with panoramic sunroof creates open airy space.
A lot of attention goes into comfort here. Seating is great, especially in the front seats with wonderful lumbar support for long trips. The rear seats offer spacious legroom and that comfortable sofa-like feel. The extra wheelbase works real magic in the rear, making the ride a bit more relaxed there, even with the middle armrest dropped down. With that down, rear seat comfort is there, and there is extra space to stretch out those legs so the cabin feels luxurious.
The BMW iX1 LWB pays high attention to safety. The SUV has a number of airbags that are complemented by parking sensors, park assist, reverse parking assist, and a rearview camera. The advanced driver-assist functions that are included feature front collision warning, cruise control with brake assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot detection, and rear collision warning. The iX1 also includes front and rear Active Park Distance Control sensors that makes both parking up tight areas easier and safer.
The starting price of the BMW iX1 LWB is at Rs. 49 lakh and a variant up to Rs. 66.90 lakh, ex-showroom in India. In a way, it competes directly with other luxury electric SUVs like Volvo XC40 Recharge and Volvo C40 Recharge. However, it can also be priced as premium over more affordable EV options like BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 5.
Long-term peace of mind is maintained since BMW has an 8-year, 1,60,000 km battery warranty. Further warranty extension up to 10 years makes this EV a wonderful investment.
BMW iX1 LWB is an all-rounded luxury electric vehicle and practical performance comes in luxury. It comes with good designs inside, has a modern look, and carries most of the advanced safety technologies. It achieves long-range without having a very heavy price tag on it. Electric SUV for the people falls under this car with a package offering technological safety features.
