Mercedes-Benz has a fascinating history in India that dates back to 1994 when it first entered the Indian automotive market. Since then, the iconic German car brand has become a luxury and prestige symbol. It is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mercedes-Benz Group, headquartered in Chakan, Maharashtra.
Over the years, Mercedes-Benz has introduced various models for customers, catering to different tastes and preferences. Their luxury vehicles are known for superior build quality, innovative technology and elegant design.
Furthermore, Mercedes cars have also played a significant role in shaping the luxury car market in India, setting high standards for performance and safety. Today, Mercedes-Benz continues to be a popular choice among Indian car enthusiasts, offering a wide range of vehicles that combine style, comfort, and performance.

One of the key milestones in Mercedes-Benz's Indian journey was the introduction of the 'Made in India' E-Class in 1995. Launching the W124 series E220 was a significant move that demonstrated their commitment to the Indian market and also helped in reducing costs, making these luxury cars more accessible to Indian buyers.
At Rs 22.5 lakh, this Mercedes car ensured to provide high levels of luxury and comfort to its occupants. After a year, Mercedes also introduced the diesel variant, however, it did not work well for the brand as the sales units were not impressive in the market.
However, this did not let down Mercedes's craze for making cars. Rather, the German brand started introducing new models in the market. The W124 model was replaced with the W210 series E-Class in 1998. Its facelifted version came in 2000 and in the same year, Mercedes launched the luxurious S-Class. SUVs like the GLC and GLE, and even high-performance AMG variants were also introduced.

Over the years, Mercedes Benz has transitioned into the epitome of luxury, comfort and technology. In this transition, the brand has now moved into the world of electric mobility and is gradually expanding its EV portfolios to cater to various markets, including India.
With the increasing concern for environmental issues, Mercedes also launched its first-ever made-in-India electric vehicle for the Indian market in 2022. The Mercedes Benz EQS 580 4MATIC is considered India's most aero-dynamic vehicle with an ARAI range of up to 857 km.
Launched at Rs 1.55 crore (ex-showroom), the 2023 EQS 580 4MATIC introduced some stand-out features such as the MBUX Hyper screen that provides unprecedented access to 56 inches of digital space.
Mercedes-Benz has introduced cutting-edge technology and safety features in its vehicles, setting new standards in the Indian automotive industry. Features like advanced driver-assistance systems, and connected technology have been hallmarks of their vehicles.
Overall, Mercedes-Benz continued to be synonymous with luxury and prestige in India, attracting discerning customers who valued status and sophistication.
