5 New Electric and Hybrid Cars Coming to India Before 2026 Ends

Mercedes GLC Electric arrives on 4 November with a claimed 673km range. Denza Z9 GT and D9 are expected to launch in India on 13 November. Toyota Hycross facelift and Hyundai Ioniq P are coming before 2027.

The Indian automobile market is set to witness several new electric and hybrid car launches before the end of 2026. With automakers expanding their electrified vehicle portfolios, buyers will soon have more options across the premium and mass-market segments. Some of the key upcoming models include the Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric, Denza Z9 GT, Denza D9, Toyota Innova Hycross facelift and Hyundai Ioniq P. These vehicles will bring different electrified technologies, including pure electric, strong hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

While some models will target the luxury segment, others will focus on buyers looking for more affordable electric mobility and improved fuel efficiency. Here is a closer look at five new electric and hybrid cars expected to arrive in India by December 2026.

1. Mercedes-Benz GLC Electric – 4 November 2026

Mercedes-Benz will launch the new GLC Electric in India on 4 November 2026. Positioned as the successor to the EQC, the electric SUV will be locally assembled using completely knocked-down (CKD) kits imported from Germany. The Indian market will get the range-topping GLC 400 4MATIC variant, which produces 355hp and 800Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.3 seconds and has a top speed of 210kmph. The electric SUV comes with a 94kWh NMC battery pack that supports DC fast charging at up to 330kW. It offers a claimed WLTP range of 673km on a single charge. With its long driving range, powerful motor and premium cabin, the GLC Electric will be an important addition to Mercedes-Benz's electric vehicle portfolio in India.

2. Denza Z9 GT – 13 November 2026

Denza, BYD's luxury car brand, will introduce the Z9 GT in India on 13 November 2026. The premium shooting brake is available internationally with plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrain options. The plug-in hybrid version produces 764hp and 1,075Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 3.6 seconds and offers an electric-only range of 203km. Its combined driving range stands at over 805km, as per WLTP figures. The fully electric version is even more powerful, delivering 1,140hp and 1,210Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 2.7 seconds and has a claimed WLTP range of over 600km. The Z9 GT will bring a combination of high performance, luxury and electrified technology to India's premium car market.

3. Denza D9 – 13 November 2026

Alongside the Z9 GT, Denza is also expected to introduce the D9 luxury MPV in India on 13 November 2026. It will compete with premium MPVs such as the Toyota Vellfire and MG M9. Internationally, the Denza D9 is offered with plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrain options. The plug-in hybrid version delivers an electric-only driving range of approximately 210km and a combined range of around 950km, as per WLTP figures. The fully electric version, meanwhile, offers a claimed driving range of up to 520km on a single charge. With its spacious cabin, premium seating arrangement and electrified powertrain options, the Denza D9 could bring a new alternative to India's luxury MPV segment.

4. New Toyota Innova Hycross – 26 November 2026

Toyota is preparing to launch the facelifted Innova Hycross in India on 26 November 2026. While the updated MPV is expected to receive cosmetic and feature upgrades, its biggest highlight will be the addition of a flex-fuel hybrid powertrain. The upcoming model is expected to become India's first flex-fuel hybrid vehicle, offering buyers an alternative to the existing petrol and strong-hybrid powertrain options. The current Innova Hycross is popular for its spacious cabin, comfortable ride and fuel-efficient hybrid technology. The new powertrain option could further strengthen its position in the premium MPV segment. More details about the updated model's specifications, features and pricing are expected closer to its launch.

5. Hyundai Ioniq P – December 2026

Hyundai is also working on a new compact electric SUV for India, currently known as the Ioniq P. Earlier identified by the codename HE1i, this model will be designed and developed specifically for the Indian market. The upcoming electric SUV is expected to compete with models such as the Tata Nexon.ev and Kia Syros EV. It will be positioned in the mass-market electric SUV segment, making it an important addition to Hyundai's growing EV portfolio. The Ioniq P is likely to feature LFP battery packs sourced from Chinese battery manufacturer Svolt. However, details about its battery capacity, driving range, charging capabilities and performance are yet to be revealed. The electric SUV is expected to launch in December 2026 and could give buyers another option in India's increasingly competitive electric vehicle market.
