The Sorento diesel range starts at Rs 27.99 lakh and extends up to Rs 38.89 lakh. On the flop side, the base Sorento hybrid is priced at Rs 29.49 lakh and its top-end variant is priced at Rs 40.39 lakh, ex-showroom.
The hybrid version of the Sorento 3-row SUV pairs a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine clubbed with an electric motor powered by a small lithium-ion battery. This self-charging hybrid version is designed to maximise fuel efficiency.
Stop and Go Mastery: In bumper-to-bumper city traffic, the Sorento Hybrid can run on battery power on lower speeds. This dramatically reduces fuel consumption where traditional engines struggle most.
Smooth Acceleration: the electric motor in the hybrid setup delivers instant roque from a standstill, making the SUV feel quick and responsive off the line.
Lower emissions: the hybrid releases lower tailpipe emissions during everyday urban cycles, which significantly reduces carbon footprint.
The diesel variant of the Sorento features a tried & tested 2.2-litre CRDi turbo-diesel engine rated to a smooth 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. This version is built for long distances and heavy lifting.
Effortless highway driving: diesel engines work the best on open roads. With 440Nm of torque available at very low RPMs, passing slow-moving traffic on highways requires minimal effort. The high torque availability also helps in quick overtaking at higher speeds and constant cruising.
High Cruising Range: on long highway trips, the Kia Sorento diesel can offer a high range in a single tank of fuel.
Better Towing Capacity: If you plan on carrying heavy loads - such as big suitcases, large trailer or household items - the diesel model typically offers a higher towing capacity and handles heavy weight with greater stability.
If your maximum driving happens in the city or suburbs during rush-hour traffic, and you want a quieter, smoother ride with lower fuel consumption, we suggest you to opt for the Sorento Hybrid.
Go with Sorento diesel if you regularly take long-distance road trips, drive heavily on highways, or need a vehicle to carry heavy weight with high stability.
