Two Hyundai SUVs Launching Launching This Year; Next-Gen Creta in 2027

Hyundai Bayon launch by Diwali 2026 New Hyundai electric SUV debut later this year Next-gen Creta could debut at 2027 Auto Expo

The Korean automaker, Hyundai will launch two brand new SUVs in the Indian market before the end of this year. The company will first introduce a new midsize SUV by festive season, around October 2026. It is most likely to be the called the Hyundai Bayon. The second model will be the all-new electric SUV, which will be based on the E-GMP (K) platform. The same platform also underpins the global-spec Hyundai Inster EV.

Hyundai is also preparing the next-generation Creta, which is likely to be launched in the first half of 2027. It is expected to be revealed at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Global Expo.

Hyundai Bayon

This midsize SUV will sit between the sub-4m Venue and the next-gen Creta, which is set to grow in size. It is likely to measure around 4.2-4.3 metres in length, and will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun and others. Internally codenamed BC4i, the upcoming Bayon will be the first Hyundai measuring over 4 metres in length to get a CNG option. It will be powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 115hp and 144Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic. The SUV will also receive a CNG option, and could get an underbody CNG tank.

Hyundai EV

Codenamed HE1i, the upcoming Hyundai electric compact SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 3XO EV and the Kia Syros EV. It will be offered in two versions - standard range and long range. We expect the SUV to share the battery options with the new Syros EV, which is offered with a 42kWh and a 51.4kWh battery. The SUV could offer a realistic range of around 400km on a single charge. The new electric SUV will be equipped with a ’next-generation infotainment system’, which is likely to be the Pleos Connect infotainment system.

Next-gen Hyundai Creta

Hyundai will introduce the next-gen Creta as its first hybrid model in the Indian market. Testing of the new model has already been commenced, and it is expected to be launched in the first half of 2027. The next-gen Hyundai Creta will receive significant structural and architectural changes. The spy images have already confirmed that the new model will grow in size, and is expected to measure close to 4.5 meters in length. It will be based on the new K3 platform that also underpins the new-gen Kia Seltos.

The 2027 Hyundai Creta will adopt the brand's Pleos Connect system, equipped with a massive central touchscreen paired with a sleek digital instrument console. The next-gen Creta will continue to be offered with a 1.5-litre NA petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and a 1.5-litre CRDi diesel. Its hybrid version is likely to receive an all-new engine, which will utilise the existing 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine clubbed with a small battery pack and a single electric motor.
