Tata Motors has made significant progress in the electric vehicle segment in India, showcasing a diverse and promising electric portfolio. The company's commitment to sustainable mobility was exemplified with the launch of EV models - Tata Tigor.ev, Tata Tiago.ev, and Tata Nexon.ev.

In addition, Tata Motors had expressed intentions to expand its electric lineup. Some of its electric concepts were showcased during Auto Expo 2023. Tata Curvv, Tata Sierra, Tata Avinya, and Tata Harrier.ev are lined up for upcoming EV models from the brand.

Tata Tigor.ev

Tigor.ev

First launched in August 2021, Tata brought its updated Tigor EV in November 2022. The car is currently priced at Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

It carries a 26 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which is paired with an electric motor. The combined power output of the battery and motor delivers 74 bhp and 170 Nm of torque. Additionally, it comes with two drive modes - Drive and Sport.

The electric version of the Tiago was launched in the country in September 2022. With the introductory price of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the car became the cheapest EV in India. At this moment, the Tiago.ev retails at Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 12.4 lakh (ex-showroom).

It is powered by two battery packs. The smaller battery pack of 19.2 kWh offers a range of 250 km while its larger pack of 24 kWh provides a claimed range of 315 km. Moreover, the IP67-certified battery pack and motor are rated for water and dust protection.

The current most popular electric SUV, Tata Nexon.ev launched recently in India with updated exterior and interior features. The base variant of the EV is priced at Rs 14.74 lakh (ex-showroom) while its top-spec model is on sale at Rs 19.94 lakh (ex-showroom).

The latest Nexon.ev is offered with two battery packs. The 30kWh in Medium Range guide provides 127 bhp of power with 215 Nm of torque with a claimed range of 325km. While its 40.4kWh battery pack in Long Range guise generates the output of 143 bhp and 215 Nm of torque, offering a range of 465 km. There are also multiple charging options including a wall box AC charger, DC fast charger, 7.2kW home charger, and 15kW portable charger.

Tata Motors Aims to Increase its Share with Upcoming EV Lineup

The EVs manufactured by Tata Motors have already achieved a significant milestone with annual EV sales crossing the 50,000 mark, constituting 12% of the sales portfolio in the March quarter. As the leading player in India's electric vehicle sector, Tata Motors has seen remarkable growth, escalating from 1,300 units to over 50,000 in just three years. Anticipating a surge in demand for electric vehicles with the introduction of more options, the company is gearing up for substantial volume growth in FY24.
