Kia India recently shared that their Sonet subcompact SUV provides excellent value for money compared to other cars in its category. The South Korean manufacturer, which is part of the Hyundai Group, mentioned a study by Frost & Sullivan, highlighting that the Sonet has the lowest maintenance cost among subcompact SUVs in the Indian passenger vehicle market. According to the study, choosing the Sonet can be a smart and cost-effective option for new car buyers in India.

For the diesel variant of the Sonet, the cost to maintain it is 14 percent less than the average cost for similar cars in its category. The petrol trim is even better, with maintenance costs being 16 percent lower than the average.
The study also looked at the total cost of owning these cars, considering things like maintenance, insurance, and fuel. The diesel Sonet came out on top, being 10 percent cheaper than the average total cost in its category. The petrol Sonet was the second-best, with a total cost of 4 percent lower than the average.

Both versions of the Sonet have a higher resale value by 3 percent compared to other cars in the same category. The analysis compared 5 similar petrol cars and 3 diesel cars with the Sonet, considering things such as residual value, initial acquisition cost, finance, insurance, maintenance cost, and fuel expenses.
Specifically, the regular maintenance cost for the diesel Sonet is 17 percent less than its closest competitor and 23 percent less than the average in its group. The petrol Sonet's maintenance cost is over 7 percent less than its closest competitor and 28 percent less than the average of other similar cars.
Considering a yearly distance of 10,000 km, the diesel Sonet is the most fuel-efficient in its category, using 6 percent less fuel than the average. However, the petrol model could be better in terms of fuel efficiency, ranking third in its category.
