The long-awaited new-gen Renault Duster will finally go on sale in the Indian market today. The company has already started accepting pre-orders for the SUV at a token amount of Rs 25,000, and deliveries are being promised to commence from April 2026. The new Duster will initially come with two turbo petrol engines; however, a strong hybrid version will join the line-up by October 2026.
The new Duster will carry an aggressive price tag, thanks to the inclusion of the 1.0L, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine and higher level of localisation. We expect the new Renault Duster price in India could start at Rs 9.50 lakh and extends up to Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom. The SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Tata Sierra and Toyota Hyryder.
The new Duster is available with two engine choices, a 1.0L, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol and a 1.3L, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol. While the former is good for 100hp and 160Nm, the 1.3L turbo unit produces 163hp and 280Nm. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual as standard and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic with 1.3L turbo unit. The new Renault Duster is the most powerful model in its category, as its direct rival Creta/Seltos and Sierra offers 158bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
The hybrid version of the SUV will get a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively.
